Swing left. Swing right. Dodge. Puncture. The training had begun and boy was it gruesome.
Damian, Gideon, and I had been training since about 6 in the morning, fighting boars and running with a back of rocks on our backs. Surprisingly, Mr Gregorio is indiscriminate with his training and gave me the same amount of rocks as the boys.
It was about 6 hours in when Mr. Gregorio told us to stop what we were doing. We were drenched in sweat, and Gideon was barely able to walk without trembling.
"My my, you guys look great! You've all been pushed so far that your aura is leaking, just take a look at yourselves!" Mr. Gregorio said while looking at us with a face of approval.
Surely enough, he was right. I looked down at my hands and some blue aura coming from them.
"Now that you guys are up and ready, it's about time I teach you all how to channel your aura and use it as your own weapon. Before I do that, I'm going to need all of you to watch me closely."
Then, out of nowhere, golden aura began to flow from Mr. Gregorio. The air felt warm, and his presence was reassuring. He pulled out a sword and with one slash, he sent a line of energy that cut a boar in half and killed it instantly.
The three of us stared in awe as he slashed once again and cut down a tree with another line of energy.
"Now then, it's your turn Damian! Feel your energy flowing through your sword, and swing!"
Damian closed his eyes for a couple of seconds, and when he opened them, his sword blazed with aura, but then it simmered down and returned to normal.
"Heh amateur. Everybody knows that you're never meant to put all your aura into a weapon, you completely lack any type of control, you're way too wild kid." Gideon said teasingly.
Damian's aura quickly returned to him as he glared at Gideon. He charged forward at full speed and swung at Gideon, but was quickly repelled by Gideon's aura engulfed sword.
Gideon looked down at Damian angrily as he lifted up his sword. His aura burned a bright green and you could visibly see power gathering into the sword. I closed my eyes and imagined my energy flowing from my arms to my sword, and swung twice. When I opened my eyes, two slashes of energy in the shape of an X, flew towards Gideon's sword. The impact caused him to lose balance, and Damian took advantage of that situation and began to charge once again.
Before he could strike, Mr. Gregorio grabbed Damian's wrist.
"Now isn't the time to fight eachother. The way you three are acting could've easily gotten you killed!"
Gideon sheathed his sword while Damian stood in place, with his wrist still in Mr. Gregorio's hand. Though you couldn't really feel it, Damian's aura was chilly.
3 Hours Later
"Though you guys acted like children, you were all able to utilize your aura. I just wish you learned how to in a less chaotic environment." Mr. Gregorio said after giving a girl a quest.
Damian looked at him and without hesitation he asked, "How do you know how to do that? Why would an NPC have the power to do that? Especially given the fact that all you do is assign us missions and quests to complete."
Mr Gregorio laughed and responded. "Well I am a trainer NPC. How could I train you all if I don't have the ability to show you what you are trying to accomplish?"
"My bad, it was just a bit weird to see that, that's all."
"That's quite alright. Anyway, I would like to tell you all about a quest. I'm sure Gideon has heard of it, but I will tell you 3 all the information because I would like to assign you guys on this mission. Behind this village lies a desert, and it that desert, there is a precious stone. This stone is one used by mages to harness their aura, and use in battle. Many players have attempted to complete this mission, but it's either they come back empty handed, or fail the mission by dying by the claw of the skeleton dog that guards this stone. The reason why this stone is so important is because it's one of the very few dark magic stones that have ever spawned. We cannot let that stone get into the wrong hands. So, how are you three feeling about this? Let's start with Rin."
I looked down at my hands and looked right back up. "I'm honestly down to do this. I enjoy adventure and to be honest, I'm kind of tired of easy missions like delivering items to NPCs."
"Haha, I thought so. Gideon?"
"I'm 100% down to do this, but do you think we're strong enough to complete this task?" Gideon asked.
"It isn't all about strength. The strongest man alive could be taken down easily if he was stupid. Sometimes you have to play smart to win." Damian replied.
"He's right. I'm sure if you guys think it through, you can pull it off. I'll give you guys a week to gather resources and train. Good luck!" Mr. Gregorio said.
I have no idea what we just signed up for, but something is telling me we might regret this. Nevertheless, it's all just a game anyway so if we lose, we lose.
