Though the sky was clear, the cloud of uncertainty seemed to have casted its shadow upon us.
Not a single word was uttered on our way to the mini boss's cave, and the few mobs that came our way were swiftly dealt with by Lily.
The terrain slowly began to slope downwards and the amount of mobs that were around began to increase. At the end of the path there was a large hole where a large stinger hung out of. That must be the mini boss.
"Alright guys, you all know what to do. Rin will be our primary attacker so Gideon, make sure to keep up with her and shield her from any large scale attacks. Damian and I will attack the mini boss as well but our primary focus will be on the mobs around. You all ready?" Lily said while she took her position.
We all nodded in agreement and drew our swords. Damian rushed forward and began hacking at the scorpions that were around, while other scorpions dropped dead after being hit by Lily's arrows. The battle had begun.
Immediately, an ominous aura flooded the area. Red eyes shone brightly within the darkness of the cave, and after a few seconds, a giant white scorpion lunged right into the open.
I hesitated, but with Gideon's reassuring look, we too, ran towards our enemy.
The scorpion slammed its giant claw on the ground, causing a ripple in the terrain. I jumped over it and then enhanced my body with aura to propel my body forward and slash at it.
It groaned in pain in pain then jumped backwards and roared. More and more scorpions popped out from under it and began to rush towards us, but Damian came over and redirected their attention. I noticed so far, he hasn't used aura at all.
As both Gideon and I watched Damian take down the large army of scorpions, we were both slammed into a wall by one of the white scorpions claws. Giving us no time to react, it jumped forward, but was shot down by Lily's blazing blue arrow.
I then infused my sword with aura and sent two slashes of energy towards the scorpion while it was still down, and shortly after they were launched, I charged after them.
The energy slashes made contact with the white scorpion, further damaging it. I was about to stab through it's skull when it's claw swept under me, and I lost balance. Its tail with its large stinger was about to pierce me, but Gideon quickly put up a force field to deflect the attack, and the scorpion lost its balance as well.
Damian then jumped up from behind and slashed one of its legs off. He slid under its belly and another leg was quickly cut off.
Another one of Lily's arrows cut right through it, and I dashed forward and sliced off its head. It looks like the battle is over.
Lily ran to Gideon and I and gave us a big hug. Damian soon joined us, and we all stood there grinning.
"You did great Rin! I could never have even dreamt of facing that monster head on!" Lily exclaimed.
"Yeah you were awesome out there, such a strong, beautiful, pationa-" Gideon was met by a blow to the face from Damian's fists.
Damian was going to give me a hug, but I felt a slight feeling of ominous aura coming in our direction.
"LOOK OUT!" I screamed as I shoved Damian out of the way. I fell over in pain. My arm quickly turned a dark purple and began to swell up. My skin was punctured by a smaller white scorpion.
3 more white scorpions emerged from the corpse of the larger one, and joined in on the fight. We had been caught by surprise, and none of us were prepared for it. I tried to move, but my body didn't respond. To my left, Gideon put up a force field to endure a barrage of attacks from two of the white scorpion, and to my right, Lily was being chased by one of the scorpion.
Damian's aura finally began to flow from his body. The air became tense enough to be cut by paper, and he blitzed forward. The scorpions reaction time was fast, and it nearly dodged Damian's attack, but it seemed his swords sharpness went as far as his aura extended, and he slashed the scorpion. Taking no time to recover, it swung its tail at Damian's feet but he jumped back in the nick of time, and jumped forward just as quickly to counter attack.
A screeching noise erupted from my left, and when I looked over, I saw that one of the Scorpion were on fire. It ones one of Lily's arrow's. It seems like Lily struggles with close combat, because she was still running from the scorpion closest to her, but she still figured out a way to help out.
Gideon put down his force field and slammed his sword into the burning scorpion. It was split in half and began to turn to dust, but that wasn't his only problem. The other scorpion was about to pierce his skin with its poisonous stinger, but another arrow was fired and pierced through it, however, this time it didn't light on fire.
I looked back in front of me, and Damian was being barraged with attacks. He was able to match the scorpion's speed and block each one of the attacks, and out of nowhere, he jumped backwards, and the flow of his aura became heavier.
I blinked once and the scorpion was sliced in half, and Damian was already running in Lily's direction.
I looked back at my left and it seemed like Gideon pinned down the other scorpion with his sword.
"NOW LILY!" He shouted, and another blazing arrow flew into the scorpion, and it too turned to dust.
Damian rotated through the air while swinging his sword, immediately killing the last scorpion. A bunch of tiny stingers fell from its body, as well as a key, and it turned to dust.
Damian's aura vanished in an instant and he fell over. My vision began to become blurry. The last thing I heard was Gideon calling my name.
