AN/ sry if the last chapter was needlessly short, again please tell me if Kat seems like a Mary sue. I do not want that. Katherine spars with Snakeeyes one late night because she couldn't sleep. they also learn a little about each other. Still excepting OCs! I'm sorry if Snakeeyes doesn't seem like Snakeeyes, I'm trying to figure out the best way to write him. I do not own G.I.Joe. Enjoy and no flames, please!

Chapter 6: Sparring with a ninja

Katherine tossed and turned in the twin sized bed, restless. Sleep would not come to her, no matter what she did. Huffing in annoyance, Katherine threw her covers off and made her way to the training hall. if it wouldn't come willing, she would work herself into sleep.
Katherine walked past the jets and equipment and when the training hall was in sight she moved to a punching bag. Where there she proceeded to punch the hell out of it, letting out all her frustration on to a sack of sand. Beads of sweat formed as Katherine gave all she had into the powerful punches and swift kicks, she grunted as she delivered one last kick to the bag.
Now tired and still not sleepy, the spy flopped onto a nearby bench. Her head rolled to the side, looking at the training area. Some of strands of her black hair plastered across her face, obscuring her vision, slightly.
She wished she was at Tony's mansion, if she were there he would be up too. Together, they would probably fiddle with some of his newer projects and drink scotch until the sun comes up. Invent something random and useless or do something stupid, most of the times both. Then Pepper would be Pepper and swoop in and scold them for their idiocy. Gosh, she missed her cousin. He was a egotistical billionaire genius playboy philanthropist but Tony was family.
Now that Katherine thinks more about it, she misses everyone back in her home state, Texas. She missed Texas as well, with her big blue, never ending sky and her rich history and 'don't mess with me' attitude. Katherine remembers her Familia laughing at some prank that both sets of twins pulled. Telling stories about their day at dinner. The street races on Friday and Saturday nights after the fact everyone either went to a party or they lost their winnings playing poker. Early Sunday morning they rolled out of bed; hangover or not, and ate Grandmama's homemade breakfast then attended church. Most of her Familia, weren't family by blood but by bonds that tied them closely together. Misfits with little to no family banded together to make their own better family, they would stick together forever. If Katherine were to say she was in trouble, the familia would leap in to assist in anyway. Family doesn't always end in blood.
Tears started to blur her vision so Katherine turned her attention to figure out what would get her to fall asleep the fastest. "What to do next?" Katherine spoke herself. A black figure approached the bench where she laid. It was Snakeeyes. 'What was he doing up? He couldn't sleep too?' She wondered.
"Snakeeyes?" Katherine asked, his head dipped into a nod, she assumed it was of greetings and in answer. "What are you doing up?"
He signed,' I could ask you the same thing.' His head tilted with the question.
"Couldn't sleep." Katherine confessed." Same for you?" She got a curt nod in response. Katherine nodded to the still swaying bag of sand and mumbled,"The punching bag defeated me but at least I gave it a run for it's money."
Snakeeyes' head tilted the other way, she assumed he was laughing in his own silent way. Snakeeyes jerked his head to a nearby training mat. Katherine understood what he meant, sparring. In her short months being in the Pit, she never sparred with the ninja. she admits it would be an... Interesting experience.
"Sure, it will be fun." She accepted his offer, she pulled her long onyx hair back into a high pony tail. He moved to the center of the black mat and she followed in suit. They faced each other, Katherine kept her breath steady and even. She was taught to never relinquish her next move and to attack first to surprise her opponent. She feels in this case, it would prove difficult to surprise Snakeeyes.
Katherine swept her legs under Snakeeyes, he dodged and moved to strike. They kept at this elegant dance of kicks, blocks and punches until Snakeeyes gained the upper hand and took her down to the floor. She kicked at his legs but he didn't budge. Katherine's head flopped to the floor, she knew if Snake- where did that come from? Was she giving him a nickname now?- if Snake wanted to he could've ended the fight far sooner.
Snakeeyes's mask was inches from her face and Katherine felt blood rushed up her cheeks. "Give! Uncle! Or whatever!" Katherine said and didn't like defeat but she didn't really had a choice. Snake got up and helped the spy up. "Your good." she complimented the ninja then added," I don't give that easily."
'You have skill. where did you learn?' Snake signed to her.
"Grandpapa and Grandmama but mostly self taught than anything." She smiled at a memory of receiving her kopeshes. Moving back to her bench and grabbed her water bottle, she took a swig then turned back to Snakeeyes. "Where did you learn to be a ninja?" Katherine asked innocently." That Mark, I've seen it before.... Arashikage? Sorry." She apologized with a flush of red when Snakeeyes stiffened. "It's the spy part of me coming out, I mean no offense." Katherine started to fiddle with her hair, then mentally scolded herself for doing so. Her golden-yellow eyes flicked up to Snakeeyes' face or rather mask. She could see her tired reflection in the visor.
Snakeeyes signed,' It's fine, Katherine. I didn't know you knew about it and yes.' And paused before continuing,' If not from any Government intelligence agencies, where?'
Katherine groaned," Hawk told Alpha Team, huh?" At Snakeeyes' nod, she groaned again and sat down on the bench as Snake remained standing then answered,"Yes, I wasn't trained from any government agencies and no, I can't tell you. Top secret, tell you I die type of thing. Sorry, I would if I could." Katherine smiled.
'it's fine, I understand.' Snake cocked his head,' You look tired.' He remarked.
"I feel sleepy, yeah. I think I'm going to turn in for the night. 'Night, Snake." Katherine said, standing up. His short nod was her answer and she headed back to her quarters. After a quick showering, she slipped back in bed, ready for sleep. Her eyes just slid shut and her alarm clock started to blair, telling the increasingly angered woman that it was 6:00 AM. "Son of a B*tch!" She cursed as she grabbed and hurtled the cursed thing across her room and into the wall.....
