Aahna :

" Apni Maa,  ko phone kro.  Kuch Sharam hai ya nahi usske andar.  Aaju baaju wala kya Bolega jab Dekhega ki itne late aarhi h. " my father shouted for the umpteenth time.

Call your mother ask her where the hell she is,  has she lost all her respect? What will people say when she comes home at this hour of time.

I sigh and call once again.  I know she's already on her way home. It's a regular thing for me now.

My father is a lawyer,  he was very good in his work and we had a amazing life till the time I was in 4 th grade but everything changed after that. My father met with a accident and he lost his legs for good. He couldn't work . Our happy family was shattered.

We didn't had food to eat at days,  we slept empty stomach. My mother was uneducated and here in India people who have degree don't get jobs,  what will a women like her do.

She had five empty stomach, she needed to fill.

My mother prompted my dad to ask money from my grandfather who could have done so easily . But My grandfather always hated my mother because of her tongue.  She was a sharp speaker and our Indian culture didn't allowed women's to speak at the time.

She tried hard and hard did,  house works, part time jobs but nothing could cover 4 childrens school,  clothing and food plus a person's medical bills and to top that house works and bills. She was lost.

And that particular day my mother was introduced to a wealthy man,  my 9 years old self wasn't able to understand the situation back then but now it did.

Mr.Gada was a ray of silver lining at our dark coulds.  He provided us with every Nessescity . He did everything he could give us a comfortable life,  at that time my innocence self thought it's out of pity or goodwill.

But later slowly my mother who was the most simplest women I've ever encountered started to change. She was drunk at nights and fought at mornings. Afternoon were spend with her absence . She was there but was never with us.

Mr. Gada later showed how cruel he is.  When for the first time after numerous time telling me that he's the father figure in my life and to him I'm the daughter he never had,  grasped my breast.  At the time, I was shocked and shaken but he started to coax me with his words.

" I've done so much for your family,  can't you just let me relax a bit.  I'd never take your virginity but we can do something else can't we.

I started to stay away from me,  hated how my body reacted with puberty.  As soon as time passed his assaults started to hit higher octave. That 45 year old jerk took my first kiss from me.

I was done but whenever I see the faces of my younger brothers, all the bloods cools down.  They haven't even started their life and I can't provide them anything the least I could do is let them have whatever luxurious they have.

India,  my homeland but the problems faced by women's are innumerable and no one I repeat no one wants to see what and how can they solve it. They've always been through hell.

I heard a knock,  my mother arrived.

I rush to open the door before she starts to say numbers of profanity.  Our one room kitchen house was small for six people . The smell of her alcohol immediately starts to spread the house and I see the inconvenience and anger on my father.

He hated my mother they always fight,  never had a normal conversation.

I take my mom and clean her up,  hold her hairs as she vomits her guts out.

She is miserable.  She is torn.  She is broken.  She is weak.  She is lost.  She is still my mom.
