Chapter 1: Carson

I'm currently in Mr. Rowlands advanced placement government class. Yes, I know, advanced placement--really Carson? It's extremely boring but it's an extra point on my GPA. I'm trying to get into a good college but the worst thing is college apps are due in a month and I don't even know what colleges to apply for.

My mom has been telling me about how I should just intern but I don't want to do that. Yes it might get me a job faster than going to a four year university--oh shit! He's here. Oh gosh guys I gotta tell you about this hot guy. His name is Everett and this boy is fineeee. His face is just perfect and he's around 6 foot 3, gorgeous eyes, and a face you can dream about forever-- like damn he has it all.

Whereas I, I feel like he will never notice me. I'm not going to be one of those girls that are like "I'm so ugly give me attention", I know I'm pretty but I'm not one of those that is like "omg I'm so pretty give me attention". I'm that type of pretty that is like fuck off.

In all honesty I hang out with the type of people that "pretty" people never want to be seen with and I get a lot of shit for it. My friends are average. In fact, they have had more relationships than I have in 3 years and I don't even care. It might just be because I hate egotistic guys but that's what my school is full of. I'm not entirely sure if Everett is one but based on who his best friend, Kyle, is I'm a bit worried. With that my thoughts are cut off by my teacher's loud voice booming through the classroom.

"CARSON WELLS! Would you stop daydreaming and start taking notes?" Mr. Rowlands scowls at me.

"Uh yeah sorry sir," I stuttered back.

I have got to admit I hate being put on blast. It's annoying and embarrassing. But whatever thats what this stupid teacher does. I just can't wait until this semester is over then I won't have to take this class ever again. Did I mention I have enough credits to graduate early? Yup, that's right. I took AP classes all four years so I don't need another semester of this stupid ass school.

Both of my parents push me so hard in school. They want me to be like them in everything from academics to my career choice. They're both lawyers and want me to choose the same thing. My mom already suggested I start interning! However, if I wanted to be a lawyer, I would be choosing Harvard, but I'm not.

With me being very indecisive, I am finding a difficult time figuring out which college to apply for. I don't want to disappoint my parents, but I also want to find out who I am with going to the college of my choice. Granted, it doesn't really help that my parents are absolutely down my throat about going to an Ivy League school. I just want to be happy with making my own decision instead of having my parents making it for me. There's always the possibility of me not applying to only the schools I want, but I know my parents would literally kill me if I do that. Though, if I apply to the schools I want and whichever schools my parents want, they will force me to go to the school of their choice. UGH! Why does this have to be so difficult?!

BINNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

Finally this class is over. I grab my books and walk to my locker. Next is lunch and I have to meet my best friend Kate. My best friend is nothing like my other friends. In fact, she is a part of the "pretty" people. She is just like me but my other friends don't like her and they won't tell me why. Today we don't have a period after lunch so we chose to just go grab a burger from the diner down the road from our school. That place gets swamped after school so we chose to go during lunch.

Kate is a year younger than me but since she has done summer classes to graduate early she won't need a senior year. Kate is crazy smart. Her mom is a scientist and her father is a doctor. We go to a private school and yes, private school means rich here. However, not everyone here is rich as we do have some kids on scholarships. Those kids are smarter than both Kate and I combined.

We get off-campus passes then I pull out my car keys and unlock the car for both Kate and I to get in. Kate quickly pulls out her phone, hooks it up to the aux and plays throw back songs to jam out to. I always let Kate use the aux cord because while she has the weirdest songs, they're good. Kate is like the sister I never had and I wouldn't let anyone hurt her.

We arrive at the diner and we both order our burgers specifically without cheese and mine with cheese and tomatoes because yuck!

"What has your mom said about you not submitting your college apps yet?'' Kate questions as she takes a sip of her cherry cola.

''I haven't exactly told her yet," I said as I stirred my straw, making the ice clink against the glass.

"She's gonna freak if you don't submit them."

"I know but I have been wanting to take a semester off of school anyways, knowing my mom would force me to do early admission in the spring."

Loey, our favorite waitress that works the stool bar, leans against the table and says, "Sweety you gotta let your mama know you want to have a break, you can always use me as an example to say you will be too stressed and drop out."

"Loey I can't do that. She won't listen. I just won't tell her or I will submit at the last second and risk it?'' I questioned.

"Carson, with your GPA those colleges will accept you for early admission in a heartbeat, submitted late or not," Kate explained.

"Hold up girls I gotta take this table," Loey said walking away.

Naturally my eyes followed toward the new people being sat by the beautiful hostess. Everett.

"Ummmm Carson. I'm talking to you," Kate snaps in my face.

"Huh? Oh yeah, what's up?" I asked snapping out of what I was staring at.

"I was saying we should go to the strip after we are done eating."

"Oh yeah sure but we should go home and change out of our uniforms. I'll drop you off at your house and I'll grab you after I'm done yea?"

"Perfect!" she said excitedly.

Our food came and we ate, talked and laughed. The whole time I was hoping to catch eyes with Everett but it never happened.
