Sure enough, when Twilight went back downstairs, the news reporter had switched from telling people to evacuate to telling people to hide. Well, that was for Central Castle Town. East Castle Town still had time. But there wasn't much.

So he ran back upstairs and grabbed Wild. And they all got into Warrior's and Twilight's cars and drove off.
The traffic was terrible. Everyone was trying to leave.

Wild sat in the passenger seat of Twilight's car, still shaking. Tears were streaming down his face, but he was a little calmer. Still incredibly shaken and upset, but calmer.
However, once they reached the traffic, he started freaking out more. Hitting the window and sobbing, then silence. Then screaming. Everyone had to cover their ears. Then more crying. The loud kind. Ugly crying. Then he put his hoodie up and pulled the strings, covering his face. Mumbling. Yelling. Heavy breathing. Silence.
Silence.
Silence.
Silence.

Twilight got a little concerned and tapped Wild's shoulder. No response. Just silence.
Shit.
He shook Wild a little. Wild moved the slightest bit, flinching away.
Good. So he was responding. Automatically, maybe, but still responding. And that was good.

So there was a still, deafening silence. The air was thick.

Wild's window slowly went down.

Twilight looked over. "What are you doi-"
He stopped himself, realizing that Wild had unbuckled. "Wild, whatever you're doing, stop."
Wild didn't reply. Instead, he pulled his hoodie down and turned to face the three people crammed in the back.

Legend, Four, and Wind looked at him, confused.
"You better not do something stupid," Legend said. "And why are you looking at us like that?"

Wild pointed to them, then to his seat. "One of you. Front seat. I wanna switch."
"Wild, no," Twilight interjected. "Not while the car is moving."
Wild didn't respond to that, instead repeating, "Somebody switch with me."

After a moment, Wind unbuckled. "Sure."
Twilight swerved a little, paying more attention to Wild than the road. "Wind shouldn't even be in the front seat!"
"Who cares?"
"Hmpf!" Wind crossed his arms. "My grandma lets me sit in the front."
"Yeah, well I'm not your grandma. And I'm not letting you sit up here. Wild, of all people, should know enough about car crashes to not want you sitting up here."

It was silent for a good two minutes before Wild sat back down.

"That's it."
Twilight pressed a button, and the window stopped responding to Wild.
"Hmf."

"Wild, I will turn this car aro-"
Twilight stopped himself.
Then, in the smallest voice he had ever heard, Wild said, "Please don't."
"I... I'm sorry, I didn't mean that-"
"I know."
"Just... stop doing whatever you're doing, alright?"
"Yeah." Wild nodded, putting his arm down. "I'm just... stressed."
"We all are."
"And terrified." Wild put his legs up on the seat and hugged them.
Twilight nodded. He opened his mouth to speak, but he was interrupted by a loud sound.

Explosions.
All the cars started honking their horns, and the traffic moved noticeably faster.
Wild started freaking out again.

"Twi, hurry up!" He covered his ears and shut his eyes tightly. "Make it go away, make it go away! Twi, make them stop!"

And a few moments later...

"I want my mom back....."

Twilight almost choked. "Wild..."

"I wanna go backwards and make this not ever happen. I wanna kill those bastards before they kill my mom and my sister and my dad and my friends." Wild took a deep breath. "I want my life back... I want Mipha and Revali and Urbosa and Daruk and Ailey and Mom and Dad and everyone else and I want them back I don't want then gone I want those Yiga to die and I... I... if not... I wish I died with them. I don't wanna have to do this, I want my family back. I don't want to have to do this again oh who an I kidding I can't do this again I-"

"Wild. It's okay. At this point, we're far enough away that they won't hurt us."
"But... Zelda..."

Crap. He hadn't thought of that. "I... I'm sure she'll be okay."
"But what if she's not? My dad was in the castle last time... and... well..."
"They probably have much better security."
"Bombs."
Twilight said nothing for a good minute. He couldn't argue with that. "Well," he slowly began, "she was probably taken to a safer place."
"I hope so...."

There was another explosion in the distance. Screaming to go with it this time.

Wild made an odd whimpering sound and pulled the hood of his hoodie over his head. He started crying again. Ugly crying, like before. The kind where you can't catch your breath to keep crying, but you can't stop crying to catch your breath. The kind when you're so terrified that you're angry and sad and everything. The kind when you're so overwhelmed with emotion that you don't know what you feel. When you just feel pain. When you feel physical and mental pain because so much is happening in your mind and outside of your mind that you can't handle it. The kind where your chest hurts. Where your head hurts.

Not like anyone had experienced that kind of crying. This was Wild's first time.
He hadn't cried or even felt anything like this before, even when it first happened. During the first attack. He was just too scared to feel then. Then, it was the survival kind if fear. This time, it was the kind of fear where you know you're going to die, and you're upset and sad. Where you know there's nothing you can do to change the outcome. Nothing.
