~ Areum's POV ~

After Seokjin had announced the title of the third round he then promptly left the room. Everyone in the room was confused at what this round would consist of that we hadn't even noticed that he had put the details of the competition on the table in the middle of the room.

Round 3: 21st Century Girl's Awareness

All contestants will be preparing to answer questions about pressing concerns in our Kingdom in the upcoming round. The future Queen of BigHit Kingdom should always be aware of what is happening in her Kingdom as well as being aware of the concerns of her subjects. If you wish to succeed in this round you must do well in answering all questions asked by me, your host. Whoever wins will, of course, stay in 'The Heir' and her reward will be going out to dinner with the entire royal family. However, in this round, there will be six girls eliminated. For this round there was no way to train or even prepare, you either knew your stuff or you didn't and thankfully my mother had trained Jungkook and I in the habit of always knowing what was happening in the kingdom and with the people in it. Mother always told us that it was very important to be aware of what was going on around us so we could be prepared for anything. She always made it sound like we were going to war with another kingdom, which thankfully never happened.

I got up to leave the grand hall and ventured out to the garden at the back of the castle. It seemed like a good place to go and gather my thoughts. I wandered around the garden for some time and finally took a seat on the marble benches that aligned the center of the garden. I had been too preoccupied with my thoughts that I hadn't even noticed when someone else took a seat next to me.

~ Jimin's POV ~

My father had called me to the throne room once again, which I could already tell would not end on a good note. I entered the throne room and saw that my father was waiting for my arrival. Unfortunately, my mother was nowhere to be seen, so she wouldn't be able to stop my father if things got out of hand which they were bound to do.

"I will be departing to our neighboring kingdom for a few days for some business and I expect you to be on your best behavior since your every move is now being watched by paparazzi."

I glared at my father "And who's fault is that?"

I knew all about his supposed business trips. He'd leave the kingdom for a few days maybe even a week and meet up with his friends at some private location, get drunk, and then have sex with some random whore. I had told my mother countless times to leave my father but she refused to believe me. She still trusted my father and told me that he would never do anything like that.

"Watch your tongue boy! Your mother isn't here this time to protect you."

I gritted my teeth and refrained from saying anything out of line, which was probably the first time I had done so. I growled and stormed out of the room and went straight to the garden to let off some steam. I was furious and needed to calm down immediately or else I would end up doing something that I would regret.

I walked over to the middle of the garden and sat down on the marble bench completely ignoring the person next to me. I took a deep breath in and took a breath out trying to calm myself down which wasn't working very well. I growled and was ready to punch the marble bench in front of me but I felt someone's hand on mine.

I turned to my right and saw Areum looking at me with concern. I looked down at her hand which tightened around mine. I wasted no time in pulling her close to me and burying my head into the crook of her neck. Areum wrapped her hand around my neck and ran her fingers through my hair slightly, which I contently sighed at. She stayed quiet and continued to run her fingers through my hair which surprisingly calmed me down. After a few minuted she pulled away but still kept her hand intertwined in mine.

"What happened?"

I sighed and let everything out "My father is leaving the kingdom for a few days and he claims it's business-related when it's clearly not. He makes up the same lie all the time and tells my mother and me that he's going to a neighboring kingdom for business but he's really just going out to get drunk and get laid."

Areum looked shocked at the information that I had just disclosed. I didn't know why I was telling her this secret when I hadn't even told Taehyung yet. Taehyung had been my best friend for as long as I could remember and we always told each other everything but my father's countless affairs that had been happening for years were the only thing that I had refrained from telling him.

"Does your mother know?"

I nodded my head "I've told her countless times but she doesn't believe me. She thinks I've made it up since I don't like my father."

"I don't think it's that simple Jimin. Your father and mother have been married for many years and your father may not love her but she does, and I think she's just blinded by that love. She doesn't want to believe that your father would ever do something like that to her."

I sighed, Areum was right. My mother loved my father more than anything. Both my father and I were everything to her and she would do anything to make us happy.

"What do I do Areum? I can't just let him keep on doing this to her."

"I don't think you can do anything to fix this. This is something that your mother and father need to solve, and if I've learned anything in the time that I've been here, it's that your mother is probably one of the strongest people I've ever met. Everything will work out on its own, I promise you."

I smiled at Areum, all thought from earlier had disappeared from my mind and now all I could think about was how comfortable I felt at this moment. I continued to gaze at her beauty but my eyes lingered on her lips. 

Before I could withdraw my mind from its far places, my hands were around her. I felt a rush of excitement as my face continued to inch forward. I bent Areum's head back across my arm and kissed her, softly at first, and then with a swift gradation of intensity. My insistent mouth was parting her shaking lips, sending wild tremors along her nerves, and before I knew it, she was kissing me back.
