Will you be my friend, Gon?

"hello? Gon? you alive up there?" he hears a voice call and pulling Gon out of his mind.

"huh? oh i'm sorry master Killua!" Gon jumps down from the branch he was sitting on landing on his feet in front of Killua. "Is there something you need?"

third pov

"oh uh" Killua looks to the side to hide his slight blush of embarrassment. "There's no need to call me master, its kind of embarrassing." Killua scratches the back of his head as he speaks.

"oh sorry Killua. i don't wanna make you uncomfortable." Gon says nervously.

"hey uh Gon was it? how old are you?" Killua asks, Canary has already stepped away as to not intrude on their conversation.

"I'm 16." as Gon says this, Killua's crystal blue eyes slightly widen with excitement.

"No way- we're the same age!" Killua exclaims.

'maybe he'll want to be my friend..' Killua thinks. 'no its too soon to tell. He'll probably realize he doesn't want to be friends with an assassin.'

'you aren't made to have friends, kill. you'll only betray them.'  a voice in Killua's mind tells him.

These thoughts all going through Killua's mind in a split second. He shakes his head to clear his thoughts.

"nice meeting you Gon, but i gotta go now. see ya Canary!" and with that Killua is gone. Gon wonders why Killua's expression faltered slightly just before he left.

'maybe he wasn't feeling well...' Gon thinks as he climbs back up the tree to the branch he was originally on. Gon lets himself hang upside down again.

Gon is someone who, when it comes to people, trust and making friends, is very simple minded. When he needs to think and be strategic its unbelievable what he can come up with as 13 year old boy. Most of the boys on Whale island where he comes from are playing around and going to school.

Gon isn't like those boys. As soon as he turned 12 and was eligible to take the Hunter's exam and become a hunter like his father, Ging, he did. Once he passed the exam, having made two friends/allies, Leorio and Kurapika, Gon spent his time training further with Ging to prepare for this job the two now have.

'i wonder how Leorio and Kurapika are doing... I hope they're still together. It'd be a shame if there was a break in our group.' Gon frowns at the thought of them never being able to talk or hang out as a group. Though, gon doesn't know if he will be able to regardless, being that he is going to be at the Zoldyck household 24/7.

After a few minutes gon starts to get bored, and sits upright in the tree.

A few hours pass and nothing really happens so Gon decides to get down from his branch and sit by where Canary is. They just sit in silence which Gon dislikes and decides to speak up.

"Hey Canary, sorry if i'm bothering you.. but i'm thinking, if we're going to be paired up for a while we should maybe, get to know each other. It'll make the time go quicker." Gon suggests.

Canary looks as if she isn't bothered and takes a chance with Gon.

"Sure Gon." she looks towards the boy next to her. "What would you like to talk about?" Canary asks, humoring Gon with his attempts to make friends with her.

the two spend what seems like minutes talking when in reality it's been hours. Canary realizes Gon is so easy to talk to and really appreciates his presence and friendship.

Canary learns about Gons adventures in the hunters exam and his friends he met. While Gon learns that Canary defeated a blacklist hunter and about 100 of his men in mere minutes without even breaking a sweat.

Gon is awfully proud that he is able to know and talk with her. She's interesting and deep down is very kind hearted and gentle, despite her rough, and sort of heartless demeanor she must hold up.

During the week canary and gon sit and wait for something to happen or someone to approach them. When nothing/no one does they just sit around and watch. After being around each other for days at a time they became closer as friends and are mid conversation when gon hears something coming from ahead.

"Hey.. Canary did you hear that?" Gon asks.

"Hear what gon?" She obviously didn't hear it. Then there it is again, and it's coming closer and the footsteps are louder.

"that, footsteps a lot of them. They're coming this way." They both stand up from the pillars they were leaning against and watch the path to see who is coming. Gon quickly jumps up the tree to have an advantage from above before they see him.

They are in position as about 20 men stand in front of them.

"if you move, we'll spare your lives." The man leading the group says.

"Do not step past this line please." Canary calmly says. Whilst Gon is itching for a good fight.

"You asked for it." The bulky man lunges toward Canary and the men follow. She gives a swing of her staff and the leader goes flying back, she stands her ground but they're all after her at once. Gon has been suppressing his aura but now, he's focusing his nen into his right fist.

"first comes rock..." he whispers. "Jan.. ken... " He jumps from the tree tops and yells "ROCK!" As he punches the group of men back. They go soaring through the air from the impact landing to about where mike is located, he will take care of them.

That helps Canary defeat the rest. Once they're all down a few seconds later Canary whistles, so high pitched Gon can just barely hear it- and mike comes running through. Mike lowers his huge snout and sniffs the victims.

"You can eat them if you like mike. But don't blame us if you put in some extra weight boy!" Canary smiles at the humongous dog stood in front of her and Gon.

All the bodies are now cleared and Canary and gon  sit back down and are back to their conversation.

"What were we even talking about?" Canary asks.

"You and Amane" Gon elbows Canary teasingly.

"Ohhh yeah, so.. well, there isn't really much to it i guess. I think she's cute is all." Canary tries to suppress a smile but fails and looks down. Gon squeals and lightly kicks the floor out of excitement.

"You two would be soo cute!" Gon exclaims quietly while lightly poking canary's arm. Suddenly Gon remembers the first time he met Amane and the lingering touch she gave Canary.

"Master Silva would never allow it, and if he ever found out, we would be out of this job." Canary's smile wiped off her face.

Gon is about to console her when his phone rings. Gotoh had given Ging and Gon a phone with all their needed contacts in it before they started their first day. Gon withdraws ir from his pocket and presses accept.

"Hello?" Gon says

"Hi Gon, you have a new assignment so please report to the front door of the house, i will meet you there." Canary hears the murmur of Gotoh's deep voice from where she's sitting.

"okay, i'll be right there." Gon hangs up the phone an puts it in his pocket.
