jughead was sat in bed, his eyes and nose were red, with an exhausted look on his face and surrounded by used tissues. boxes lay empty on the floor which used to be filled by the tissues surrounding him and more boxes were stacked up on the bedside table. warm blanckets surrounded him and it was very clear he hadn't left the bed in a few days. his clothes were the same ones he wore to be three days ago, the day before he got sick.
the door swung open to reveal none other than betty cooper, jugheads girlfriend who had made it her job to take care of him whilst he was sick. holding a wet towel in one had and a thermometer in the other she came and sat next to jughead on the bed. delicately, she placed the towel on his forehead and dabbed away the sweat before placing it on the side.
"you know you don't have to do this right, bets?" jughead spoke softly.
"of course but why would i not?" she laughed at his concern
placing the thermometer in his open mouth betty dragged a hand through his sweaty hair that hadn't been washed. the thermometer beeped and showed that jughead still had a fever and therefor needed to stay in bed. sighing betty dragged the towel along his warm forehead once again until the sweat was gone.
"you hungry?" betty questioned the boy
"um yeah i guess."
betty didn't reply she just left taking a few empty boxes with her a few minutes later she was back with pills and water wich she passed to him and then without another word left. walking to the kitchen betty sighed as she remembered she had forgotten to buy more of jugheads faviroute soup. chicken it is she thought to herself. finally, she was in the kitchen that hadn't been touched since jughead got ill.
opening the cuboard betty took out one of the many cans of chicken soup they had and reached for their can opener. once it was open, which she usally got jughead to do, betty poured it into the pan she placed on the stove. her feet tapped the ground as she got a bowl from the shelf that she could pour the soup into once it was finished.
after ten minutes the soup was heated all the way through and ready to eat. betty placed a spoon in the bowl and left it to cool down for a minute as she pulled out her phone.

after placing her phone back in her pocket betty headed upstairs with the soup held tightly with both hands. pushing the door open betty smiles at jughead who looks even worse since they last saw eachother.
"sorry this is all that was left in the cupboard."
"you didn't need to you know!"
betty just rolled her eyes and passed him the bowl of hot soup. christmas break was usally spent in a cabin that the four friends had bought so jughead felt guilty for keeping betty home this year. however, no matter how much jughead tried to convince her to go betty wouldn't leave her sick boyfriend behind.
sipping on the soup he had on his spoon, jughead admired his girlfriend. how did a boy like him get such a godess for a girlfriend? boy was he lucky.
lucky that she would love him forever no matter what.
