A New Friend

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, Harry was out in the kitchen making avocado on toast, he knew Louis wouldn't eat it but made it anyway.

Louis walked downstairs in his boxers and saw the green thing on his toast.

"No thanks." He cheekily smiled at Harry while sitting down at the dining table.

"You're going to eat it and you're going to like it." Harry placed the plate in front of Louis and sat opposite him taking a bite out of his toast.

Louis rolled his eyes but did as he was told, they ate in silence.

"I was thinking we could go to a pet shelter today and look for some pets." Harry broke the silence.

"Yeah we can have a look, what pet were you thinking?" Louis asked taking his plate to the sink to wash it.

"I do want to get an aquarium to have a lot of fish but I'm thinking simple pets right now like a friendly dog."

"I can deal with a dog, you're in charge of cleaning up shit though." Louis laughed.

" you can feed it then." Harry chuckled putting his plate in the sink for Louis to wash.

Harry stood behind Louis and hugged him while kissing his neck.

"I'm going to have a shower, we will leave shortly." Harry smiled and went upstairs.

"Can Eleanor come? She wants to have a look as well, she can also help distract paparazzi." Louis said walking into the same bathroom to brush his hair.

"Yeah, Opal should stay with Noah so cameras won't always be in her face." Harry stated.

Harry got out of the shower, changed and met Louis downstairs. The got into Harry's car and drove to the nearest pet shelter. Eleanor was already waiting outside, she waved once she saw Harry's car in a distance.

"Hey El." Louis greeted reaching for a hug.
"I already had a quick look around since I got here pretty early, I saw some adorable dogs." Eleanor said while they walked to the entrance.

They walked into the cats area and Harry fell in love with a bunch of kittens while Louis kept getting attacked.

"Cats really don't like you Lou." Harry giggled.

"They probably saw me talking as a cat on James' Corden's show." Louis laughed.

They continued walking past the cats and found the area where the dogs were, Harry took time with each dog and puppy to see which one liked him the best. The area for the dogs had two separate rooms, one for puppies and one for adult dogs, Harry was with the puppies while Louis and Eleanor were with the big dogs. Each room had their own little cages for the dogs to have their own space.

"Look at this one!" Louis pointed out to a Blue Heeler.

Eleanor caught up to Louis and saw that he clearly liked that dog from the rest.

"A Cattle Dog, really?" She sighed.

"What's wrong with cattle dogs?" Louis questioned while lookin at the dog.

"They are giant dogs for starters and they are known for creating a big mess." Eleanor carried on.

"They are very protective for their owners, we won't even need security guards anymore." Louis jokingly laughed.

Harry came back noticing Louis on one knee petting the cattle dog.

"A Cattle Dog, really?" Harry sighed with laughter.

"That's exactly what I said!" Eleanor said out loud.

Louis ignored them and continued to pet the dog. Harry walked over next to Louis where a sign was stating the name, breed, age, sex and personality of the dog.

"It's a He and his name is Archie, he is a year old." Harry smiled at Lou and then went to pet Archie.

"Can we get him! He's the only one who hasn't tried ripping my head off." Louis begged.

"If you're happy with our walls being destroyed and you paying for it then sure." Harry joked.

Louis jumped up and down with excitement like a little kid and went to the nearest assistant. The assistant put Archie on a leash and walked to the reception area so they could fill out paperwork. Harry signed all the paperwork and paid for the dog while Louis and Eleanor were giving Archie treats.

"Archie is not a regular cattle dog, he is the sweetest boy you could ask for so thank you for adopting him." The assistant smiled as she waved everyone goodbye.

Eleanor went back to the hotel she was staying at with Noah and Opal while Harry was driving Louis and Archie back to their place. Louis sat in the back seat to comfort Archie until they arrived home.

"Welcome to your new home buddy." Louis said jumping out of the car with Archie following close behind.

Louis held the leash in one hand and Harry's the other, they smiled at each other and walked inside to start a new life.
