Meet Me Halfway

Chapter 5

That next day Regina got up at 5:45, took a nice hot shower and, got dressed. After she made Henry's breakfast, she woke him up. When Henry was eating his breakfast she put together a nice healthy meal for the kid.

"Thanks mom. This is delicious," Henry said with a smile for ear to ear.

"No problem, Henry."

"So, can I see Emma today?"

"I don't know Henry. I forgot to call Emma, but I'm going to see if she wants to come over tonight for pizza and board games."

"That sounds awesome! Make sure she says yes mom!"

"Alright Henry. We have to get you to school. Your going to be late!"

They left the house and hurried to the school. After dropping off Henry, Regina went to grannies to clear her mind.

"Ahh. Hello Ms. Swan," Regina says as she was about to pull out her phone to text her.

"Hi, Regina. How are you?," Emma says before taking a bite of her waffles.

"I'm great and you?"

"Great considering I am living in a bed and breakfast." Emma says chuckling.

"Well, I was just about to text you but I guess I can ask you now."

"What is it?"

"Would you want to come over for some pizza and board games tonight?"

"Uh.. yeah I guess. Are you going to pick Henry up then?"

"It doesn't matter. I can."

"Alright well then it's settled. What time should I be there?"

" We will be eating around 5:30 p.m. Ms. Swan."

"Alright thank you, and see you later," Emma calls out as she finishes her waffles and leaves.

Later that day around 5:00 p.m. Regina called the pizza place to come deliver the pizza now. She had gotten half with just pepperoni and the other half plain.

When Emma arrived, Henry ran at the door and opened it.

"Hey Emma!" Henry said thrilled.

"Hey kid."

Regina stared at her from the kitchen and Emma looked in return.

They were staring at each other for a good minute before Henry had interrupted.

"The pizza man is here!" Henry called out.

"I got it," Emma said paying the man and taking the pizza.

"Oh, well thank you Ms. Swan. You didn't have to do that."

"It's okay. You're welcome."

They took the pizza to the kitchen and put it on paper plates and took their food to the family room. They took out the game board called Monopoly and started playing.

"I want to be blue!" called out Henry.

"Okay kid. I'll take red," Emma said next.

"Alright, looks like I got yellow," Regina said as red was her favorite color. Though she was letting it slip. If it were anyone else she would have slit their throat by now, but Emma.... no Emma was different. She, she liked Emma.

After Henry got done cheating at monopoly and winning twice, he stated that he was going to bed.

"Alright goodnight Henry." Emma said as Regina took him up to tuck him in.

Emma took this time to fix her hair and take the empty paper plates and throw them away.

After she did that she put Monopoly away and started to put her shoes on.

Regina started walking downstairs and saw Emma.

"You're leaving already?" Regina questioned.

"Well, I thought you wouldn't want me being here after Henry went to bed."

"Nonsense. It's fine. Take off your shoes. Relax. Have a glass of cider."

Emma looked relieved but nervous at the same time. "Alright but listen. I have been thinking and.. "

It was really hard for Emma to say what she was feeling.

"Go on Ms. Swan."

"I like you." Emma said with her voice trembling.

After she announced that the glass cup fell right out of Regina's hand and onto the floor. It had shattered all over the floor and Regina still hadn't moved yet.

"Um .. are you okay. I mean I'm sorry. Uh ....... maybe I should go," Emma took a broom and wiped up the glass and put it in a garbage bag.

"Okay I'm going to go now so you can think about what I just said and you should too. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Um goodnight Regina."

When Emma shut the door, all of these feelings that hadn't been there since Regina lost Daniel, all came back. She got very overwhelmed and began to sit in the sticky substance under her feet that she had forgotten about. She sat there for about 20 minutes thinking of how she really loved Emma since the first day they met. I mean she really cared for Emma. She hadn't realized how much she actually liked her.

Emma did the same thing. The feelings can back. The same feelings she had for Neal. But she felt they were stronger. She sat in her Bug before pulling out of Regina's driveway.

They both were feeling the same feelings.
