We all met back up with the rest of the Resistance members. Once we did, Gen Sonic started to fade. With the Phantom Ruby destroyed, Gen Sonic could go home. Tails looked at his friend with sadness.
"I guess this is good-bye," said Tails as the two shook hands, "Get home safely, Sonic and thanks for everything."
Gen Sonic waved good-bye before he disappeared, leaving Tails sorrowful. Sonic and I walked over to Tails comforting him.
"Cheer up, Tails, I'm sure we'll run into him again," said Sonic before addressing everyone, "Alright guys! It's time we cleaned up the mess that Eggman left this world in. And I'm not talking about those illusions he dreamed up for us! We need to fix the real world we all live in."
"True dat," agreed Tails with me nodding in agreement.
"C'mon let's go!" cheered Sonic.

Back at headquarters, everyone is discussing the plans they have since the war was finally over. My attention, however, was captured by the screen as it surveyed places all over the world.
"Zero," was my only thought as the screens changed from place to place.
Knuckles then walked into the room, "Finally, an end to this endless battle. Everyone can go back home and relax. There's no need for the Resistance."
"Hold on! There's still a lot we need to do. We're just getting started," said Silver, with Knuckles nodding in agreement.
"Hey Knuckles, I'm afraid this is it for me," I said.
"What? You're leaving us?" asked Knuckles, "There are others who need your help."
"I know, but there's someone else who needs me more," I explained, "And I'm not going to give up on him."
"Ok," said Knuckles with uncertainty, "I'm not gonna stop you."
"Here take this," I said handing Knuckles a special communicator, "If you guys ever need me, just give me a call on this and I'll come running."
"Man, the first time I saw you stumbling around," said Vector patting me on the back, "I had no idea you could pull this thing together and see it to the end."
"I knew you'd come through, rookie," smiled Knuckles, before correcting himself, "Sorry, Artemis, your no rookie anymore."
"You did well out there," smiled Rouge, before smirking at the black and red robot, "It's not like you just waited till the last minute to come in and act all cool saving the day."
Looking over to Shadow, who gave me an approving glance before nodding out of respect, to which I nodded back.
"Our battle is done and our resistance has come to a conclusion," said Tails, "But we'll be friends forever. A single person cannot restore the entire world. We have to work together and make a diligent effort!"
Once I said my good-byes to everyone, I exited the headquarters into the city. Standing just outside was Sonic gazing at the sunset. That's when he noticed me approach, "Hey, you're taking off, too? I was thinking the same thing."
"I couldn't find Zero after the battle," I explained, "I know he's out there somewhere and I can't let him be alone a minute longer."
"Right," nodded Sonic, "You gonna keep moving forward? No matter what, yeah?"
"Of course," I smiled, "Don't you worry about me. Save some of that worry for yourself."
"Hehe," laughed Sonic, "You and I aren't so different. See ya later, Artemis."
The two of us fist-bumped, then Sonic took off smiling back at me as he left. As I waved good-bye, I looked back at the sunset. Reminding myself of when I got here and all the friends I've made here. They taught me so much, it's now time for me to spread my own wings. I'll find Zero and show him all that I've learned and never let him go again.
