"How come we're going back home?"
Jeston questioned as Carlos pulled onto their driveway.
"Don't you want to come home?"
Carlos questioned as Jeston nodded.
"I do, but you won't answer my questions about what's going on. You just said mom got Mya and you got me. You're being vague and something doesn't feel right."
His son was smart but Carlos knew he couldn't warn Jeston before they sat and spoke as a family.
They both needed to do this together to soften the blow on the kids.
"Jes, your mom and I were ready for you and Mya to come home."
Jeston hopped out of the car.
"I don't believe that."
He said as he walked into the house, Carlos followed behind him as he ran up to his room.
"Daddy!"
Mya ran towards him as he hoisted her onto his waist.
"Mymy I missed you."
"I missed you too daddy."
Tears filled his eyes and he had to hold himself back before he broke down in front of his eight year old.
There would be days where she would no longer see him everyday.
Jewel took Mya from him as she placed her on the floor.
"Mya go wash up for dinner and tell your brother to wash up and come down as well."
As Mya ran up the staircase, Jewel wrapped her arms around Carlos's neck.
His tears fell as the reality of all of this hit him. He was losing his wife and kids all in one night. His marriage was over and he couldn't cope.
He felt weak and spineless.
"Jew I can't do this. I can't live without you and the kids."
She stared at him, her fingers brushing away the tears that ran down his cheeks.
"Los..."
He stopped her words with his mouth as his hands found her waist.
Their tongues danced hungrily as if fighting to keep connected to the other.
"Los we ca..."
"Please."
He begged as his hands travelled up her spine. He needed to feel connected to her. He felt as if he was losing everything that mattered most to him and he didn't know how to take that.
A moan escaped her lips as he trailed kisses along her neck. He needed his wife in this moment. He needed to feel her and know that a part of her still wanted him.
As he went to kiss her again, Jewel placed her forehead against his.
"Los doing this would only confuse us and them even more."
She whispered.
"Baby... I can't live without you. Let's rethink this."
She stared at him as she shook her head.
"Don't make this harder than it already is please."
She begged.
"I made dinner, go wash up and meet us at the table."
Carlos did as instructed and when he returned, the entire clan surrounded their dining room table.
Jewel had made her famous shrimp Alfredo with garlic bread at the side.
