(Stage Four: Project Regeneration)

OP 3: Selfrontier by ASCA (Also OP of SAO Alicization Rising Steel)

A young player behind me sweats from the sight of the player. I unsheathe my blade and looking at the black hooded player, bandages wrapping their arms, and their menacing smiles. Creepy and intimidating at the same time.

It was a usual night in Aincrad, and in my life. Every night, I would roam some town I would be assigned to and check on low leveled players. Laughing Coffin is official the guild controlling our world. They have heavily taxed players, disbanded all of the guilds aside from theirs and created laws that were for their own benefit and never anyone's.

I was only doing my usual rounds when suddenly I hear a shriek coming from the edge of town. I swoop in and find this scene unfold.

They took away ten million people's lives and trapped them in here.

If I could just save this boy.

This will be my good deed of the day.

The black hooded player rushes at me but he was foolish for choosing to rush right at me. I heard his first two footings, if you already know those, then you can guess how he would attack, I did not see his weapon but I assume it required the user to rush attacks.

The light sound of the player's sword comes to my mind. I knew exactly what weapon he's carrying.

     "Sword skill: Counter!"

My blue gray sword turns to white, it gives the familiar chime of a sword skill and I unleash it, intercepting his rapier to my katana hybrid of a sword.

Rapier huh? He's easy to see through.

His sword falls out of his hands and he looks at me with a gasp of horror and bewilderment.

"Leave this player alone. Or die." I threatened

"Shit, you're one of those liberators." He pulled out a teleport crystal and smashed it to the ground.

The Laughing Coffin grunt left and I turned to the young boy, I gave him a slight grin, "Don't worry about him. I'll be here in town for a few more days to fend them off. Then a few more people will come by and safeguard it for players. Say, how old are you?"

"Fourteen." He answered, "Thank you very much, may I know your name?"

Fourteen, my age when this all began. I was looking at a younger version of myself. His armor was the most basic set, assuming he wasn't a upriser like me and he didn't want to fight out there. I understood why. It's dangerous. You could be killed by the NPC monsters or by Laughing Coffin.

"Why are you out this late? They usually hunt down for people like your age at this time. You should be inside your inn or home somewhere."

"Oh...that's the thing. I mean, I don't have a home or place to stay in."

I suddenly hear a high pitch ring. A sword skill.

Where's it coming from?

I gazed around my surroundings to see or hear anyone, just the sword skill.

The boy now gave a weird face, "What's wrong?"

I wrestled the boy down and he angrily struggled. I flip him over and see a dagger behind him. He was about to throw it.
