The infant whined as I calmly smiled and hushed her. Only yesterday was when I given birth. I couldn't believe that I was a mother now. I laid by the soft hospital bed. I could barely get any sleep. But I was glad nothing bad happened. She and I were okay.
There were multiple times the hospital asked if I wanted to let her go. Abort or adopt. I couldn't grasp the idea of killing an unborn or separating the child from me. It was my fault, I had to own up and raise her. Even without her father.
There's a knock on the door
A black haired spiky man, and a chestnut haired woman with a huge bulge in her abdomen.
"Kirito, and Asuna. How's it going?" I cradle my child next to me, who trills happily.
"Asuna wanted to come. She was worried about last night. How you literally drove yourself to the hospital WHILE IN LABOR." He sighs and looks at me annoyingly and placed a plastic bag of fruit on the bedside table, "You could've been in trouble. What if your thing...um you know. Happens while driving?"
I irritatingly snapped, "Shut up, well I'm fine, that's what matters." My child suddenly wails and I cooed her. She silently went back to sleeping.
Asuna smiles at sight as she held her stomach, "Well, did you name her yet? Doctors said I'd be due probably October. It's a boy, but I don't have a clue on what to name my child either.
I thought about it. I've been thinking about it ever since she was born. That was actually the reason why I had them. Help me choose my daughter's name.
"That's why I actually asked you here," I told them, "Didn't Leafa say we should name our children for an inside joke? Since I'm Solus it has to be about the sun. Natsu, Haruki, Hikaru, Hinata, Haru. Don't really like them."
Asuna thought hard. Her husband interrupted her train of thought, "Ooh, Raito's a cool name. Literally means Light. And he's a cool character from a manga."
She bumps Kirito's arm hard and he yelps. And she comedically huffs, "She's naming a child, idiot, not a pet. And it's also a guy's name."
Raito. I know that character from Death Note. He found a notebook that could kill anyone whose name was written in it. He was a psychotic egotistical man. But Raito also meant light in Romaji. Solus, the Goddess whom I was in the Underworld, delivered light to everyone. The day time would also be the time "Solus' Blessing" would be received to all of the citizens of the Underworld. On the other hand it sounded like a great name.
"Would you want your name to be Raito?" I look at my newborn, who gives me a wide smile as I held her by my chest, "Well, uncle Kirito, you won the name giving contest. I'll name her Raito. Asada Raito."
Asuna glares at Kirito who's giving me a huge aloofed grin.
"That sounds great." He returns with a chuckle, "Nice ring to it Asada Raito. Asada Light."
"Asada's Raito. Asada's light. Yeah, that's beautiful." Asuna smiled, "Would it be fine I hold her?"
I carefully held out Raito and Asuna took her in her arms. She didn't seem to cry as Asuna cooed her too. I was amazed of how she wouldn't cry. She cried if a doctor or nurse tried to hold her. Kirito tried playing around with Raito and now she seemed to be laughing.
By that sight, I knew they were going to be much better parents than I would.
