My mind reeled from the thought of being this Kings 'wife'.

"That pirate that lead you though the wall. It's a doorway to our world."

"World?"

She looked at me with nervous eyes,"We aren't really in different worlds, but it's easier to explain it that way. It makes more sense anyway."

"What's the other way?" I was curious now. If we didn't leave the world I lived in then maybe there was a way back.

"We aren't on Earth, we are under it and depending on the time we are also on top. It's complicated but all you need to know is that if you try and leave without the Kings permission you're sure to die. We're connected to Earth by... strings, think of our world like a web connected to different branches. You were pushed along the web and onto a different branch. It's a bit confusing I know."

"So.. this isn't a joke is it?" The hope I once had was slowly dissipating as I watched her talk.

Maria slowly shook her head,"Oh no, this is no joke Annalise," I internally cringed at the name she'd called me as she continued,"The humans marked you as their queen candidate. After the blood moon you'll be marked as the Kings fiancé.. Well, if you make it that far."

"What? What happens if I don't make it?"

The lady was silent for long seconds before speaking,"I will explain everything to you. Once the snow had cleared you will be put through a ceremony where we announce you will be our candidate as the Kings Wife. After that you will be given a three month period and after that the King will decided if he wants you and if he does then you'll be given another three month period as his fiancé. After that you'll hopefully become his wife."

"Hopefully?"

Maria nodded,"Hopefully." Not explaining further.

We rounded many corners and I almost walked into Maria's back as we stopped near a dark double door. I walked through once Maria had opened the door.

The room inside held a four poster bed with white and black linen and blankets as well as pillows that looks very fluffy. The rug under the bed was white and soft under my bear feet as well as the green thick curtains that laid outside the windows, big thick trees swung and the dark green leaves whistled in the wind.

Maria walked over to the vanity where a pot of yellow and pink flowers laid. her hands opened one of the draws and grabbed a perfume bottle. It was a pink tinted glass in the shape of a heart.

"What are you using that for?" It looked pretty and I wondered what it smelt like.

Maria placed the bottle on the vanity and turned to face me, her navy blue dress swung lowly across the floor as she walked towards the opposite side of the room,"This is the bathroom, please follow me."

I nodded silently,"Ok." And followed her into the room connected to the bedroom.

The white tiles paved the floor and walls and a stand alone bath lay on one end of the room whereas a stand alone sink lay at the other end and a large mirror hung on the wall behind the sink, it was large and was the length of the whole wall.

"This is your bathroom and that is your bedroom," Maria pointed to the door that lead out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. She lent down and turned the tap. Hot water fall into the tub and created steam that seeped through the air creating almost a misty feel,"Once the bath is filled you'll have to turn it off and take a bath. Use the perfume."

That was all I heard from her before her heels clicked against the tiles and she disappeared through the bathroom doorway.

I was alone in a white tiled room. Alone and filled with thoughts while the water rushed into the tub and followed around like a small whirl pool. I sunk lower onto the railing of the tub and watched as the water swirled.

What is going on? Why am I here and what am I doing here?

I undressed as I watched the water start to fill the tub. My dark blue dress was ripped at the seams and my red cape stunk badly. I frowned at my clothes. I loved that cape and draped the piece of fabric across the seat that laid beside the tub before dipping a toe into water. It burnt but I ignored it and just sat in the hot water. Bubbles surrounded me and I inched for the soap on the side of the tub. Sighing for a second I scrubbed my body and toes and fingers to get rid of all the dirt.

I washed my hair next and scrubbed until I felt raw. The ringlets of brown swum around my body and as my body relaxed and I stopped messaging my head and just laid there, staring. Crystal like candles hung from a chandelier and sparkled silver.

The clothes they'd given me laid neatly on the silky covered bed; a Saturn red gown lay there along with undergarments and a pair of shoes, they were flats and I silently thanked whoever had given them to me instead of heels like the one Maria wore.

My bear feet padded along the floor and I as I gazed down at my new clothing a part of me just wanted to hide, but I didn't and spent the rest of my evening or part of at least just clipping and strapping the garment to her figure.

My hands raked through my damp curls as I looked at myself in the mirror of the vanity I almost gasped at my appearance. Dark skin beamed back at my along with my golden eyes. The red dress made all of my features more noticeable and I couldn't stop myself from roaming delicate fingers down the frame of my neck all the way to my waist and fanning out to the skirt.

The pink bottle laid nestled in the corner of the vanity and I contemplated putting it on and decided against it. This would be my first act at rebellion.

I would find a way out.

And wether I had to be docile to do it didn't bother me I'm the least.

I would escape.

I will escape.
