He had left the room and slammed the door so hard the world shook or at least my world shook. My world bounced from all the vibrations in my stomach and I nervously I looked around the room in more detail. My awareness suddenly now apparent and deciding to come into play.
A bookshelf next to the fireplace. I ran my finger across the mantle piece; no dust. I did the same on the book shelf and found no dust.
There were windows and they didn't have any dust either. Someone had cleaned the room not to long ago. I should know, the dust in my house appears everyday. It just keeps coming back.I yawned and stretched my body to get rid of this lacklustre boredom I felt. The floor felt under my feet.. cold. Confusion fall over my face and I furrowed my brows.
My shoes!? Where had they gone!? The floor felt like ice against my skin and I found myself hopping from foot to foot at the sudden change. The fire now forgotten and the ice in my toes now shocking the living daylights out of me.
"Oh that's cold!" I shrieked in a high pitch voice. My lungs beating just a little faster and my hands shaking a little more then they had before.
It was time to get to the bottom of this. My brain racked through the endless possibilities, teardrops and visions small is pinpricks needles bounced from one into the room to the next. Taking a deep breath I manoeuvred my way to the door, a dark brown wooden door. The knob felt like ice, but I ignored the feeling and pushed the sooo open. It swung open effortlessly and made no noise.
My feet meet even colder tiles and I rushed forward into the lush red carpet that rolled aLong the full length of the hallway. Ornate portraits of a men and woman and what looked to be a three headed dog decorated the walls. In front of them hung thick red curtains and attacked to the ends, a gold lace trimming. Everything seemed so.. rich. There were even dark ebony shelves and what sat on them were small clay plant pots and black picture frames.
The funny thing was, there was no picture in the frame or plants in the pots.
A shiver flew down my back as I continued down the hallway unsure of which door to turn into. I passed many doors and still I feel as though I hadn't moved but a couple of spaces in front my me. Huffing I ruffle my hair and ran my dark fingers down my tired face in frustration and almost gave up hope of finding an escape.
That was until I tripped over something hard. I yelled in pain and clutched my soar toes desperately whisking for the pain to subside. It did eventually and i even had time to look at what had caused me to pause. A stair case.
I blinked a couple of times wondering how on earth I managed to miss it. The railing was a dark drown just like the stairs and just like the floor I stood on and the same red thick carpet that layer under my feet ran down the stairs. There were even candles lit and hanging along the wall.
The steps were small and I was up them and onto the next floor in just a matter of seconds. This time the floor seemed lighter and as I walked i stopped at a random door and decided wether or not to open it.
With the luck that man will probably appear again, or worse..
I grabbed the knob with one hand and clutched the other to my chest trying to ease to dull thud in my heart. It opened soundlessly and I was stunned with what was on the other side. My legs moved across the room. Light shined through the window pains bringing a magical glow into the room. A four poster bed laid in the middle of the room, white sheets contrasted nicely with the gold and black pillows. Even a large rug lay near the bed, cushioning my feet when I walked further inside.
Did someone sleep here? It looked like it. A vanity was placed just opposite the bed and next to it a drew of what I assumed was clothes.
"What are you doing in here?" A wild, almost feral voice asked. I turned around so quickly my feet slipped in the plush rug and I fell onto the floor. Starring down at me was a woman, dark black hair feel in waves down her frame and her pale blue eyes almost seared me with a hunger I hadn't known existed until now.
"I won't ask again little girl."
And as if a magic trick was being played right in front of me she disappeared in a puff of smoke. Well, not literal smoke.i blinked once and all traces of a black haired woman dissolved.
"I'm going insane." I cursed myself and fled the room, afraid someone else would find me, someone real and someone a lot more frightening.
My bear feet padded along the hallway and all I could think of was finding the owner of this place. Maybe they'd tell me directions to get nearest village, maybe they'd even let her stay for a day or two.
"Ms?"
Those words did two things; it's stopped me in my tracks and had me pointing at myself and looking I'm all directions trying to find the voice, but no one was there.
"Oh, I'm over here." The voice sounded similar to that of her grandma. Kind and happy. I couldn't tell where the voice came from but when a something gripped my forearm I jumped and spun on my feet to look at whoever was holding me.
There was no one..
