The man was silent for a long time as he started at me, his shaggy hair was in dreads and his brown complexion gave me a very musky feeling."Take her."
"What?" I asked slightly confused and take a few steps back only to hit Rouls back.
"Sorry love, it ain't nothin' personal." That's the last I hear from Roul beofre my head hits the wooden floor and I'm out cold.
『。。。』
The world around me is dark but not silent, so I listened to the shuffling of feet and the pounding in my head. Roul must've hit me pretty hard. We're still on this ship though, the sea breeze whistles past me and makes my hair fly.
I wanted to cry.
Here I am bound and blinded and at the mercy of these sailors. Why did this have to happen to me!? One minute I'm walking in the woods to bring baked goods to my grandma and the next I'm taken away and unable to move. My feet and hands are bound and my eyes are blindfolded shut.
I can talk but I choose not too, to scared they'll stitch my mouth shut or worse, kill me.
I don't want to die.
I want to cry.
There are many things in life but I think I, just going to have to find a way to get out of this sticky situation. Realistically speaking, once the ship sets sail it'll be a while before I can even attempt an escape so if either have to go now, or later..
Later, I'll run later.. for now though, I'll just listen and figure out where I am. Be strong Annalise. You can do this!
That's when callas hands grabbed my skinny arm and jerked me out of my seat. And I was walking, I didn't even notice when someone had cut the bounds around my legs, but they had.
The man didn't speak for quite some time. We walked and I tried my best not to trip over the risen floorboards and ropes. He'd jerk me forward as if to say; hurry up.
A knock sounds from somewhere and the only thing I heard was,"Come in."
Next thing I know I'm being thrusted into another cabin, this one is a lot warmer then any of the other rooms I've visited.
"This is her m'lord."
I am who??
"Will she do?"
"Speak girl.."
His voice was deep, deeper then the captains and rough and I found myself shrinking away in fear. Finally noticing how trapped I really am I swallow nervously and say,"Um.. hi?"
What do I say?
"She'll do."
『。。。』
Black tendrils of hair fall over my face, not that it makes much difference I still can't see. We're still on the boat and I'm still in this cabin.
The cabin is still warm but goosebumps still rise on my legs as I wonder who this mysterious man is.
"What's your name girl." In a weird way it's funny how his voice can send tendrils of pure black fear through me. I haven't even seen his face yet.
Gulping nervously I start,"It's A-Annalise.."
Silence.
And I feel as though I've made an even bigger fool of myself.
"What will you do if I kill you?" His voice sounded taunting and I squirmed in my spot unable to bear the threat.
"I-I'd die.."
"What would you do Annalise." He said it like I was child, like the question was meant to have a different answer. He didn't sound mad, just persistent, like there was more to it then just dying.
Heaven? Or hell?
What would I do...
I don't know!! Sweat runs down my back and for once I'm unhappy about having this cape on. It's too warm. It's too difficult.
"Um.. i.. I'd.." I was cut off with a sigh and my head snapped towards the sound. He had moved, in the time that I spent wondering he had moved.
"That's enough Anna." His voice spent shivers down my spine, and not in a good way.
I felt someone grab my hand, the same man as before. There was someone else in the room? It's all I can think of before I'm tugged outside and meet with the salty wind. Shivering I try to hold myself before I realise that I can't — I'm bound with a rope that's far too tight. It rubs against my skin and I'll be dammed it I don't get rope burn from it.
I heard loud voices shouting things like,"Lower the main sail!"
And other things like,"Land ahead!"
I tripped and tumbled over ropes before some else grabbed me and said,"If you scream I'm killin' you right here is that clear girly."
Roul. It was Roul. I nodded slowly and I felt his hands behind my head, unfolding the cloth around me head. A bright light is the first thing I see before my vision comes back to me. The sun is a lot brighter then I remember. Around me are men, built a lot larger and a lot stronger then I remembered. Some wore bandannas and others wore none, their hair either non existent or done in dreads.
"Follow me lassy."
I follow Roul down the side of the ship and onto flat land. A breath escapes my tired mouth and I send a silent prayer to anyone who will listen, please forgive me.
My hands are still bound but my red cape hides that fact as Roul weaves us through the market place and down an alleyway just west of the man selling baked goods.
His eyes locked onto mine and now I'm not so sure wither or not he'd save me if I asked for help.
We're already in the backstreets and it's a lot darker and grimmer on this side. A few beggars here and there must mostly just rats.. lots and lots of rats.
But we walk past everything until we reach a dead end. A brick wall as high as the sky. What are we doing here?
"This is as far as I can take yea' lass."
