Chapter 2

~Lilith~

I "wake" to the sound of someone pounding on my door. I get up off my bed and approach the door, before opening it to the three female students on the other side.

"You need to come with us." She says, and I feel the threatening aura emitting from them towards me.

"Why do you require my presence?" I ask, after tuning my voice to the lowest level, like last night when I spoke to Graeme.

They grab me, and I let them. "You killed a human. Mr. Stead asked for you to be brought to his office."

I look back at my window for a moment to make sure of a possible escape route. Not that I'll need it.

"There are students waiting outside your window if you plan on escaping that way." One of the students holding me says.

"I never said I wasn't going to accept your invitation." I tell them, and see confusion cross their features, like they were expecting me to put up a fight.

I am brought through the hallway of the dorm like the prisoner I am, and I see most of the dorm rooms in the hallway open, and the residents standing there, watching the fuss in the morning.

I am practically thrown into the chair in Graeme's office. He stands in front of his desk, a foot from me.

"You girls may leave. Thank you." He says to them, and they exit, closing the office door behind them.

A minute passes by in silence.

Graeme bangs his fist onto his desk in anger. "Lilith!"

I look at him, waiting for him to continue.

"You cannot kill humans on school grounds!" He says angrily, glaring at me. "You also lied to me, saying that the next time you were to feed would be tomorrow night!"

"Do you know the kind of ruckus it causes when that much human blood is found on school property?!" He asks, but doesn't wait for my answer before he continues. "The students who smelled the blood got spooked at the thought that someone on campus was crazy enough to kill a human here! Not to mention what did to the vampires!"

I am silent throughout his entire rant, and now I wait for Graeme to calm down.

He leans back on his desk, and combs a hand through his light bronze shoulder-length hair. Then he looks at me.

"Say something."

"I did not kill any human on school property." I tell him.

"There was human blood in the hedge near your window!" Graeme growls out. "No one else's windows open to over there!"

"That was the blood that I puked out last night." I explain.

He takes that in. "...but you're not human."

"I ate a human heart about half an hour before I came to the school." I say. "Then I puked up the blood a few hours later."

We stay in silence for a few minutes while Graeme processes this information. "So the blood outside of your window belongs to a human whose heart you ate a few hours prior...and then you puked it up?"

I nod my head. Graeme sighs. "Lilith, I can't decide whether or not you're a danger to the Academy."

"I am not a threat." I assure him.

He gives me a look. "Just because you say so..."

"I am not a threat to Edan Academy." I repeat.
