Chapter 4 - Dixie

I was able to feel something lightly moving across my back. My first thought was that it might be a bug, but I soon found out that it was actually Addison's finger. It was a soft touch, but I shuddered at her movements. Everything about this moment felt unreal. The only thing I could hear was Addison's breath, mine, and the sounds of crickets outside the window. The moon was shining directly into my room casting a light glow across everything.

Her hand trailed lower and my breath hitched. She immediately stopped and I ached for her touch. Woah, why did she have that affect on me? "Shit I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" she said quickly. I turned around only to be faced with a wide eyed Addison, "You look gorgeous right now." I said without thinking.

It wasn't like I was lying. The moon was shining in just the right spot and it lit up her already perfect features. But my eyes widened once I realized what I had come out of my mouth. She was blushing furiously and for some reason I just started to laugh. Soon Addison joined me in my laughing fit.

By the end of it, we were red in the face and out of breath. I looked back up at her and stopped laughing. We just lay there, staring into one another's eyes. I hadn't even realized that I was moving forward till my forehead rested lightly on hers.

"What the hell are y'all doing?" Charli screamed as she barged into my room. Addison and me jumped away from each other, sitting up quickly. "What reason do y'all have to be laughing that loud at 3:23 in the fucking morning?", I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding in. Addison responded first "Oh sorry about that.", she chuckled nervously. "Yeah we didn't know we were being that loud" I said.

"Whatever, I'm going back to sleep, night losers" my sister said as she walked out. We laid back on the bed but neither of us knew what to say. What are you supposed to say in one of these situations? I mean we almost kissed. I almost kissed Addison I thought incredulously. "Goodnight" I said awkwardly while turning to lay on the side not facing her. "Oh, goodnight." she said quietly.

I couldn't sleep, I just lay there wide eyed, I can't believe I almost kissed her. It wasn't long before I heard movement coming from the other side of the bed. Addison snuggled up into my back and threw an arm around my waist. She said something but it was muffled by my back.

It felt like I couldn't breathe. I don't know why I was so nervous, it's not like we haven't cuddled before, but it felt different this time. It was a good different, I smiled to myself when I thought about it. Soon I relaxed. I could feel her steady breathing as she slept. I was able to fall asleep soon after, suddenly calmed.

I woke up early that morning, just a few hours after last nights ordeal. It took me a minute but I remembered everything that had happened. I smiled at the memories of last night. I closed my eyes again in hopes to fall back asleep.

I wasn't able to sleep due to the fact that I could feel Addison shivering. I almost forgot she was still sick. I threw more of the blanket over her and hugged her closer to me. At some point in the night our positions had switched. She had her back against me and my arms were wrapped around her waist.

All in one night my plan was dismantled. A couple weeks ago this would've seemed so normal, my heart wouldn't race at the thought of Addison. And I would be able to talk to her without wondering what her lips tasted like. But at this point in time, I realized just how much I wanted her. I kissed her shoulder lightly and screwed my eyes shut.

I attempted to go back to sleep but this time I had so many new thoughts running through my head. I had to get over her, I just had no idea how. She was straight, right? That wouldn't explain why she had also leaned in for the kiss but maybe she was just tired. I fall asleep shortly after, trying to focus only on the scent of Addison rather than my new worries.

Kind of a short chapter, but I think it was more interesting than the previous ones. I know this stories kind of really basic but I have some ideas for after I finish this story and I'm hoping I'll have the motivation to right them after this. Hope y'all are enjoying it so far though :)
