She knew her feelings were wrong, but no matter how hard she tried to get rid of them she couldn't. Every time she'd look at Addison she felt something she knew she shouldn't be feeling. Every time she was with the girl she got this false sense of euphoria. Now she longs for that same feeling, and the only provider of it seems to be Addison.
But just hanging out with the girl would no longer suffice. She wants more from her than just a friendship. She wants tight hugs, and sweet kisses. She wants late night makeout sessions. She wants to hold the girl and never let go. Dixie wants all of it, but only if it comes from Addison, however Addison seems to be the one person who can't give that to her.
She's straight, absolutely perfect. That girl could get any guy she wanted whenever she wanted. She had the looks, the personality, and the talent. She was just perfect. But Dixie just wasn't that. She lived in the shadow of her younger sister, and even though she adored the 15 year old it could definitely get annoying to constantly be compared to her.
Dixie suddenly felt so insecure. She couldn't help but feel as though she wasn't pretty enough. She thought of herself as an annoying person. She's not talented and she most definitely is not perfect. She knew Addison deserved better than her and it hurt. It hurt knowing she would never be good enough for the older girl. She'd never felt a feeling this strong towards anything before and it scared her.
So Dixie just sat there, on the edge of the pool, watching Addison giggle at something Bryce had said. The shorter brunette was in the pool, wearing a bikini, and Dixie was in a trance. She couldn't take her eyes off of her, when she made tiktoks and danced to the songs, she would watch as the girls hips swayed left to right.
Dixie felt a sudden urge to just run over and kiss the girl till they ran out of air, till everything around them just disappeared. But she stopped herself, knowing it would ruin the friendship she had just began to repair. Instead she took a swig of her drink and walked inside the house. She felt terrible, Nick had been talking to her and she had just up and left in the middle of his sentence. But she refused to just sit there watching Addison, she wouldn't be able to stop herself from doing something stupid.
She walked into the kitchen, looking for somewhere quiet, but walked in only to see something she had never expected. There Charli was, standing between Avani's legs, fully making out. The two girls jumped apart in an instant. They both looked at Dixie with wide eyes and red faces. It was silent for a moment, "I won't say anything" said Dixie, in the hopes of calming the younger girls nerves. After that she turned and immediately walked upstairs to her room.
She was happy for her sister, she had known about Charli's secret crush on Avani. But she definitely did not want to watch her baby sister make out with anyone. She was close with Avani but if that girl ever hurt Charli, she would regret ever meeting the sisters. Dixie had to admit it, she was extremely protective of her loved ones. She decided that she would have to sit down and talk to the girl and set things straight.
She laid down on bed, slightly defeated. It had been a bad day. Her head had been hurting all day and she woke up after having had an odd dream that put her off. She walked in on her sister making out with someone, quite a disturbing sight to see. However, the worst part of it was the fact that she had to watch Bryce flirt with Addison all day. Every ounce of hope she had for Addison liking her back was destroyed.
It was stupid of her to think that Addison would ever like her back. Addison was just a touchy friend, that's all, Dixie told herself. "Ugh. Stupid, stupid." Dixie groaned to herself. Why did she let this happen? "Who's stupid?" a voice said from behind her. Dixie jumped, startled by the other voice. She immediately recognized it as Addison's, she quickly picked up on the slight southern undertone from it.
"Oh, no one, it's nothing." said Dixie. "Are you okay? You don't look well." said Addison suddenly worried. Dixie refused to look at her, scared that it would break her already crumbling walls. All she could think about was Addison and Bryce. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Yeah, no, nothing to worry about." she said in response to the question.
"You're a terrible liar, did you know that?" said Addison while a small smirk made it's way onto her face. "What, no I'm not." said Dixie, once again unconvincingly. Addison sat next to the raven haired girl, "Don't even try to say everything's fine, I can tell when you're lying. Are you okay, I saw you leave the pool out of no where, what was that about?" Addison said. Dixie smiled to herself, the older girl seemed to know her better than even she knew herself sometimes.
"Yeah, I just have a headache." Dixie lied. Addison could tell she was lying but could tell Dixie didn't want to talk about it. "Oh well do you need anything?" she asked softly. "No I'm fine, thanks Addi." said Dixie, who was still staring at the floor.
"Okay," said Addison. The older girl got up and stood in front of her. She lightly pressed her lips to Dixie's forehead. "Call me if you need anything." she said. She turned to walk away but something stopped her. It was Dixie, she had grabbed her wrist.
"Please stay," she said quietly. "Don't leave me Addi." Addison wasn't sure as to why the girl was acting this way but it broke her heart to see the usually strong girl like this. Dixie was never this emotional about things, but at this moment she had never felt so torn down. She had practically begged Addison to stay with her and she didn't even know why.
So Addison sat next to her and just hugged her. Dixie allowed herself to be pulled into Addison's arms and excepted the delicate touches from the older girl. Neither of them talked, they just sat together. But they didn't mind it, they enjoyed the others presence and basked in the silence that was foreign to that house. It was a nice moment, but sadly, Dixie's luck was seeming to run out.
