"I wonder how far this'll go when I throw it across the parking lot." Keilani teased as she held the mouthpiece in between her thumb and index finger.
"Please don't." Carter was now halfway out of his car, angled towards her and was reaching his hand out.
"Nuh uh. I'm taking it."
"I could buy a new one but..."
Keilani started to walk away, but Carter was quick. He used the arm that was outstretched to pull her closer to him. "I could also take this one back".
Despite Keilani's attempts to wriggle from his embrace, he retrieved the mouthpiece.
"Good effort. It was cute." Carter smiled as she defeatedly sunk into his arms.
Cuddled against his chest, Keilani looked up at Carter and tried to give him her best annoyed face.
"If it really bothers you, I won't vape around you anymore. But, hey. At least it's better than weed, right?"
The word "weed" brought the birthday present Carter's dad had for him back to Keilani's remembrance. Carter was THREE MONTHS clean and vaping probably wasn't better than weed. Regardless, she was done thinking about it.
"Whatever," Keilani broke away from his arms. "I gotta go home.
