I woke up to the sound of thunder coming from outside and every now and then you would hear a crack of lightning that made me jump a little. Usually I would wake up cold but today I woke up warm.
I looked up to see Ashton already looking down at me but he quickly tried to cover it up by closing his eyes. I laughed at him and decided to mess with him a little. "Well, since Ashton is asleep, I guess I will leave for right now" I said looking down and talking to Benny.
Benny just looked at me and tilted his head. I smiled and sat up to get out of bed. I went to stand up but Ashton pulled me back down and wrapped his arms around me, preventing me from getting up. "NO!" Ashton said and it made me laugh because he sounded like a little kid. "Oh, I thought you were asleep" I said sarcastically.
"That's because I'm a great actor" he said, his voice laced with sarcasm. I laughed at him. "Did you....uh-um sleep good?" he asked nervously.
"Yea did you?" I asked him turning around and looking up at him. "Yes actually, for the first time in a long time I didn't have any nightmares" he said looking down at me and smiling. "Good" I said. "That's because I scared them away" I whispered to him making him laugh.
"Well thank you" he said. I sat up from his bed yawning and stretching out my arms. I got up and went to his window to look out in the driveway and I saw that the rain had stopped but you could tell that it was going to rain again soon.
"What are you doing?" Ashton asked me. "Checking to see if my dad's home." I said turning to him. "Is he?" he asks. "Nope, he's probably at work" I said an he furrowed his eyebrows. "What time does he get off?" he asks, sitting on the bed watching me while petting Benny. I smile at the sight before answering.
"Around midnight tonight" I said and his eyes widened. "Midnight?! So your home alone until midnight?!" he asks. "My brother is there usually but he's staying the night at his friends house again. I have to pick him up tomorrow at twelve" I said.
"Wait wait wait, so you're telling me that your going to be all alone in your house, with nobody there?" he asks raising his eyebrows. "Yea, that's kind of the definition of alone, Ash" I said laughing a little. "I know that, I just.....I'm not comfortable with you being alone at night. What if someone breaks into your house? What if someone kidnaps you? What if-"
"If you want you can stay with me in my house to make sure everything's okay" I interrupted him, smiling because I knew that he was waiting for me to invite him over. He smiles at me widely before talking. "Yes, that would make me feel so much better".
"Good but until then I need to go make some breakfast because I'm starving. Wanna come?" I ask and he smiles at me before nodding and getting up.
He grabs a small black bag and starts putting things in it. It took me a second to realize what he was doing before finally catching on. He was getting stuff ready for him to spend the night. After he was done we both went to his window and I opened my window in a hurry because when I stuck my hand out I could feel the sprinkling rain coming down.
I hopped into my room and turned around to see Ashton putting the board across the windows. He then grabbed Benny and put him on the board. Benny walked over the board and jumped down from the window into my room.
I pulled the board into my room and Ashton then hopped into my room as well. He closed his own window before closing mine too. I walked downstairs with both boys trailing after me. I grabbed both of Benny's bowls filling them with his dog food and some water from the fridge.
I would never give my dog sink water. Ashton took the bowls from me and put them down for Benny. We both washed our hands before I walked to the fridge taking out the eggs, bacon, butter, milk, and cheese.
