Kaydence's POV
I walked swishing my hips with a giggle feeling the tequila Chase and I had been shooting gliding through my veins making me feel all warm and fuzzy. After the stressful encounter, which Chase had apologized repeatedly for, I needed this fun night. The crowd was beyond amped tonight and we both fed off of that. Cody rolled his eyes bypassing us in the hall headed to the buses. The guys were heading out for a night on the town since it was a two-night run here in St. Louis. I covered my mouth to smother a yawn making Chase chuckle pushing open the door heading to our parked buses.
"You need to come out with us KayKay," he teased pushing my shoulder making me stumble. I glared at him reaching up to grab his ear grinning at the yelp. "Okay. Okay! Point taken your grumpy ass wants some sleep."
"Bet your ass I do," I said smothering another yawn. That encounter earlier today had been enough to wipe my nerves out. I absently leaned into Chase's side as we approached the buses. My bed at the back of my bus was calling me. Could practically feel the cool sheets on my skin. I knew I probably needed to play the dutiful girlfriend and fire off a text before I crashed. I hadn't heard from him today, but I also remembered Brantley had back to back radio interviews all day today.
He had Facetimed me last night before I went on stage. Almost made me blush at the devious look in his eyes at the leather halter top that were paired with a pair of jeans for the stage. Big difference from the oversized t-shirt and leggings I was sporting right now. As we approached our buses, Chase stopped mid step at something he noticed on his phone. I looked up at him seeing his eyes widen underneath the brim of his hat. I tugged on his arm making him glance down at me with a hint of trempidation. "What is it? You look like you have seen a ghost."
"Kay," he murmured running a hand over his chin looking like he was terrified to show me whatever he had seen on his phone. Chase take a half a step to the side tugging on his beard a little in uncertainty. Okay, something was up that he was afraid of for a reason. "You are going to flip your shit."
"About what?" I asked looking up at him puzzled. I very rarely got mad at Chase. His sarcastic humor went hand in hand with mine most days. The glowing cherry of a cigarette from the darkened side of my bus grabbed my attention out of the corner of my eye. My jaw dropped as Brantley pushed away from my bus taking a step closer. Well didn't my "boyfriend" look full of piss and vinegar tonight. "What are you doing here?"
"Well it seems to be the day for exes to drop in and visit," Brantley snarled taking a long drag of his cigarette. My eyes narrowed as he blew a perfect smoke ring my direction idly while my hands clenched into fists. Last time I had seen him we were okay terms. But now he was acting like an asshole for some reason on a day that I'd already had to deal with Cole. I was instantly rethinking Chase's offer to go party with the guys tonight. Tying one on maybe just what I need. Drown the day and the feelings I had been burying the asshole in front of me had been bringing front and center. I was lost at what Brantley was talking about and in no mood for his shit. His t-shirt clung to every muscle in his shoulders and chest that stood out even more now from his stance due to his anger. Well he could take that moody shit somewhere else. Go bug Jana for all that I cared right now. Bet that crazy bitch would like that. I still owed her for that stunt in Vegas a couple of years ago. "Figured I would take my turn."
"How about......" I hissed stepping forward feeling my temper rise. Chase stilled me with a hand on my arm wordlessly turning his phone to where I could see. I snatched it out of his hand with a gasp. I was a country girl from Georgia, and I knew how to shoot. But this was one of the few times I wanted to actually shoot a person. Cole was asking to have his ass pumped full of lead. "That fucking prick! I'm going to kill him!" I glared up at Chase slamming his phone against his chest prompting him to take a step back in fear I was about to start swinging. I raised my finger at him in warning. "I should deck you for letting him anywhere near this tour! Dammit Chase! This is press I do not want! Now it will look like I am cheating on Brantley even if we aren't really dating! I'm gonna..."
