Castaway Heart

Doorless this
fractured soul
bent into
the open cold
departed from
a winter's shore
to seek the stars
in warmer hearts

A path unlit
A trail unknown
and voices unheard
far from home
The empty sky
and open page
Words unspoken
by any Sage

Yet fantasy
and faith
meeting on
improv's stage
Gave rise
to ingenuity
and chanced upon
a post modern age

Restless that
indomitable spirit
stretched upon
a ready loom
woven tight
to hold the lines
thus a story
here entwines

A day not worn
A love not met
A romance untold
Holds the best back yet
Adventure in droves
with passions teeming
Never a pen so bold
Nor a page quite gleaming

Yet fiction
and folly
meeting truth
and time
Stir up
the images
in a wandering
mind

Fearless
the tested
staring down
all it invested
Charting new courses
brave and bold
until one way
at last takes hold

Inspiration unfettered
Muses not mute
Hearts unleashed
Emotions astute
Time not wasted
no story unturned
and no forsaken
lessons learned

Now the present
and the past
and all the things
I hold deep
Help this full
and castaway heart
to make its unchained
and poetic leap
