But it wasn't fair
No one read poor Simon's poem
Was there no one there?

But a friend who saw the poem
Said you come with me
Simple Simon post your poem
For Poet's Pub to see.

Simple Simon wrote a poem
Thereby hangs the tale
He showed the poets what he'd written
How could that plan fail?

Simple Simon wrote a book
It was no weighty missal.
He liked his new friends very much
They liked his book a little.

Little mishaps they'd forgive
They'd comment, vote right through.
Simple Simon loves the pub
And bids you all adieu.
