HINA:

"MOM! Your coffee!"
We are just about to pull away when I notice Mom has left her damn coffee on the car roof. We are in a hurry right now. Our plane to Sydney, Australia departs in an hour and a half. We usually get to the airport three hours before a flight. My Dad had to finish packing some last-minute things and we all woke up late. I hope we get there in time.
Im kind of nervous to move across the world. I won't know anyone in Australia!
On the other hand, I am stoked to spend my days on the beautiful beaches of Australia! I have done some pre-bikini shopping although I will definitely shop again in Australia.

We've just gone through airport security. My family and I are practically sprinting to our gate.
We. Have. Just. Made. It.
Thankfully there is a line. That means that the boarding time takes longer so it is possible we make it. Goodbye Canada! I don't know when I'll see you.

———after a tiring 21 hr flight

I have just taken a 2 hour nap. That's impressive, considering I can never sleep on planes. I look at my phone to see what time it is in Sydney. We departed from Canada at 2am. It's 5pm in Sydney right now.

We have just landed. It's the same time lol. Around 5pm. Wow the view is amazing.
There is so much nature and sky scrapers together.

It's not as hot as I thought it would be. I am used to Canadian weather though:)

"Hey I'm Hungry", my Moms says. I look over at her. Her eye bags. Oh my god.

"Hi Hungry", my parents. My dads jokes. Ew.

"Alright alright, I see a Starbucks right there", my sister blurts out.

"Why?! Can't we explore and go to a local cafe or something"? My dad with his food, seriously? All I want is food right now. I don't care what it is.

"I just want food! Let's go to Starbucks! The airplane food sucked. All I want is food!" I am seriously becoming hangry.

"Alright alright" my Dad agrees.

I chomp on my Starbucks sandwich and slurp my ice coffee at the same time. My stomach was hurting before because I was so hungry.
"Shall we go now"? My dad announces.

"YES", my sister and I both say in sync.

"Jinks. Hah u get slapped", I won. I gently slap my sisters arm.

I'm so stoked to live in my new house. My mom showed my sister and I some photos of it. It's a mid-century modern type home. I love modern mid-century! Also, my old house was very poorly decorated. It was kind of my parents second house together and they didn't care about decorating when they moved in. I grew up in that house. We get our new car in 2 days. Yes, we had to get a new car. We couldn't move our car across the globe! Or at least it just makes more sense to us to buy a new car here.

"So kids, here it is"! My mom says excitedly.
I know this house is my parents dream house.
Oh. My. Gosh. It looks better than it did in the photos I saw! It's absolutely gorgeous.

And then at the wrong time... I get memories of my bestie in Canada. Barleen. She is Indian so her name is unique. She is my non-related sister. We have been besties since grade one! I already miss her. Tears roll in. Ugh wtf.

"Hina what's wrong"? My dad asks.

" I'm just getting memories of home".

"Ohh you will see Barleen again", my dad knows what I'm thinking about.

"Thanks"

"Okay girls, Mayu this is your room". My mom points to a large room facing the backyard. I haven't seen the backyard yet but there's a pool!!
Having a pool is rare in Canada.
"Hina, this is your room".

No fucking way! It's large. Like large large. My sister has been accepted to a University a bit far from here (but still in Australia) so I get the bigger room. My sister will be staying somewhere else near her university campus.

My room has a huge window that faces the sunset! It's so pretty. I get a little walk-in closet. My sister gets a big closet but it's not as big as mine. I love this but I miss my Barleen. I only have one friend by the way. All the girls at my school at home were fake. You never knew what they were thinking. Barleen went to a different school as me. We were at the same school from grade one till grade four until we left that school. We went separate ways but hung out every week.

Today is Thursday. School for me starts on Monday. It's scary but I'm glad I'm not starting school here in the middle of the year. This gives me time to make friends.

NEXT DAY

"Wake up Hina", my mom says.
I am already awake because the sunlight from my window has become my "natural alarm".

"I'm awake". I have been looking at my phone.

"Okay. Then please get ready. We are going grocery shopping. Also, our furniture is coming next week. We've got our mattresses though! They just came"! Yesss!!!

"Okay"! I am so jolly to go grocery shopping here. I love grocery shopping in general.

I want to look cute. I just am always extra. I dress up for grocery shopping.

I hop in the car

I hop in the car.

Holy crap there's so much Australian snacks.

AFTERNOON
"Hina"!
"Yes Mom"?
"Our neighbours called us over for dinner. We are going at 6".
"Okay".

I love meeting new people. I'm kind of nervous though. This is a new environment. The people here talk different. That means I have an accent when I'm here? Anyways, I want to look very nice. I don't want to look like a bum when I meet my neighbours!

I change my outfit for the second time.
A notification pops up on my phone.

BARLEEN<3
Hii! I hope you are doing good in Sydney. I miss you :,(

Aww I miss her too much. I'm still not over it.
Tears roll down my face.

To Barleen:
Hey! I miss you 2. I am surviving in Sydney. Just wish my bestie is here with me

I wipe the tears off

It's 6pm right now. I slip on my Veja's.
We are walking right next door.
My mom rings the door bell.
A dirty blonde lady opens the door.
"Oh hey! Welcome, welcome! Come on in"!

"Oh hey Kate"! My mom says.
They have small talk.

Once I walk in I see three kids.
Well, they aren't kids. They seem older than me. There are two girls who are like really tall. Then there's a boy that's even taller than them. Jeez this family is tall af!

"Hello, I'm Ruel"! The boy says.
