RUEL

Hina looks out and faces the sun. I see her close her eyes in my peripheral vision. Her hair slicked back. It feels like I'm in a fantasy kind of song. Like if   You Dear, by Elouise was a moment, it would probably be this. Her voice is so smooth. And so is this water. The orange clouds reflect perfectly on the water. It lights up our faces with an orange hue.

I hear some loud music begin to play behind us. I look behind and see everyone dancing and shouting lyrics. Then I look back and Hina was looking in the same direction as I was. I prefer this more than partying. A nice calming swim with a friend, whom I can trust.

"Do you want to go?", Hina says. "Only if you want to", I reply. She simply shakes her head "just checking in", she smiles. A smile forms on my face as well. We just stand in the water.

"How did we become friends?", I ask

"How did we become friends?", I ask. It's just one of those thoughts that come to mind when you have nothing to distract you.  "I don't remember", Hina giggles. It becomes silent except for the party in the background. "Ohhh!" Hina jumps up. "I remember now! I think it was when I came out family had dinner together at your place!"  "Oh my gosh. I remember now. I was pissed at Coco and Sylvie for not letting me in", we both laugh. "I'm glad you came. I would've been hanging out with losers right now." "Same. But I did have one friend. She was nice. But we are handling long distance quite well." "Oh it must've been hard. That's good though that you guys are okay." My mind comes to Tour. Oh god. What a nightmare. Well, I really love performing and seeing fans and travelling but not the part where I lose friends. There are countless of times where I wrote songs about losing relationships.

It's been about an hour or so. Hina and I have splashed each other, swam around, talked, all sorts of stuff. I think it's about time to check up on Coco. I hope she's not too drunk. "Hey, do you mind if we check up on Coco?" "Sure!" Hina smiles and gets excited to see her. We dry off and change. Hina looks toward the crowd and her face seems overwhelmed...or maybe I'm just being too sensitive. We leave our belongings and jog our way towards the music. I try looking around to find Coco. She's sitting in a secluded spot, joking with friends. That's a good sign. "Hey Coco", I say. Hina waves from behind me. "Hey guys! Why don't you join us?", one person says. "Yeah come on!", another says. Then everyone is chanting.

I look down at Hina. She looks at me. I think it's okay so I grab a seat. Hina sits next to me. "Oh so who's this gal? She's a lucky one", one girl says and she's clearly drunk. "This is Hina. No, she's my friend", I say back. "Ahhh okay." "Hey miss, can ya see out of those?", a guy asks. "Dane!", Coco says in anger towards that guy. "It's just out of curiosity", I hear out of him. Wow. This crowd is making me pissed. Are these people really who Coco hangs out with? What a shame. I look beside me and Hina looks quite uncomfortable.

I try thinking about how to get out of this. "Hey", I tap her shoulder. She looks up and shows a weak smile. "Uh..Hey, we're just going to go back. Thanks for letting us join!" I politely say. "Aw why you guys leaving all of a sudden. Oh shit. It's probably because I said that isn't it. Sorry sorry it really wasn't out of rudeness", Dane slurs out. I try keeping myself together. "Nah. It's really not. We are doing just fine. Have a good night!", I say as I get up from my chair. I take Hina's hand and we were about to leave until... "Hey! Ya little mozzie (mosquito)! Where do you guys think your going!? Why do you have to be so rude Chink?" Oh my god. I've had about enough of this. I glare at Coco who's not doing much about this. These are her friends! "Oh, cut it out Dane. He's my little brother." Wow. That's all?

"Who's calling her a Chink?", some girl appears.
