"Please Bowers, leave me alone, please!" the voice sounded small and afraid, and yet it was the most delightful voice Richie had heard.
"What are you gonna do Kaspbrak? Beat me with your fanny pack?" another voice growled, a voice that Richie quickly decided he hated.
He quickened his pace and pivoted around the corner, to see a bigger boy standing over a smaller boy, the boy that Richie suspected the heavenly voice came from. Richie's eyes widened as he saw the name Bowers stitched to the jacket that hung on the boy's shoulders. Ben had warned Richie about Henry Bowers on the way to school.
"Stay away from him, he'll beat the shit out of you if you don't watch your mouth." Richie remembered Ben saying to him. Unfortunately, Richie had never been good at keeping his mouth shut.
"You heard the kid Bowers, leave him the fuck alone." Richie scoffed.
Henry flew around to face the daring voice, ready to show him the reason why nobody talked back to Henry Bowers.
"And who the hell are you?" he sneered.
"Richie Tozier, at your assistance master," Richie said, mock-bowing. He heard a collective group of gasps and whispers come from the kids in the hallway. Henry's face grew red with anger and he punched Richie in the face, his studded silver ring leaving a cut on his victim. He started to walk away before a teacher saw him.
"Never talk back to me again, you got that Tozier?" he said as he walked away, not bothering to stick around to wait for a response.
Richie had lost his balance and was now up against the lockers, bl00d running down his cheek. He shut his eyes and tried to calm himself down.
