He had been telling his friends about the new kid, as promised, when Bev suddenly interrupted him, saying something Eddie couldn't hear over Bill and Stan's bickering, and pointed towards an oncoming figure. Eddie felt his heart drop to his toes as he looked to see Richie standing next to Ben.
His friend, that he had to meet. It wasn't a girl... it was Ben! He thought as Ben introduced the club to the newcomer. He was gasping for air and reached for his inhaler as Richie slid in next to him.
"So, what a coincidence, huh?" Eddie nodded as he shoved the trigger down, the medicinal taste coating his throat. Richie looked down at Eddie's perfectly organized packed lunch, particularly at the spaghetti sitting in the middle. "Ahaha wait, Eddie Spaghetti, wayyy better than Wheezy, right?" Richie exploded into laughter with his newfound nickname for Eddie.
"Oh god, please no." Eddie rolled his eyes.
Richie placed a hand on his chest and gasped dramatically, "You're killing me here." The "Losers Club" as they called themselves, had spent the lunch questioning Richie, and cracking up at his jokes, which made Richie incredibly happy.
Near the end of lunch, Bill asked Richie, "D-do you w-wanna come t-to th-the sleepover th-this w-weekend? I-it's at my p-place." Richie nodde and exchanged numbers with the group, smiling when it came to Eddie.
"Alrighty Eds, gimme yours." he said, unable to hide his smile.
Eddie chuckled and pulled out a notecard from his backpack, as well as a light blue. He slowly and carefully wrote down his number in his flawless handwriting, adding "Eddie Kaspbrak :)" near the bottom, which made Richie smile uncontrollably as he ruffled Eddie's hair. Eddie huffed as his cheeks turned a bright pink. Richie flinched when the bell rang. He said his goodbyes as he started to head to his next class, his heart fluttering.
