Eddie's throat tightened at Mr.Collin's last words.
Partners.
He knew exactly who he wanted to be his partner. He looked over at the cute, curly haired trashmouth and took a deep, staggering breath,
"Uh, Rich, do you want to be my partner?" he braced himself for the rejection. Richie blinked as his eyes glazed over for a couple seconds. "Oh, uh, forget it, I-" Eddie was cut off.
"Wait, I'm sorry, nobody's called me that in a long time. Rich. Only my uh, close friends." with that, Eddie smiled, unable to contain his excitement. He was Richie's friend. However, there was a thought in the back of his mind that told him Eddie wanted more then that. "I would love to be partners with you Eds." Richie finished.
"Don't call me that," Eddie mumbled, his eyes exploring the ground with his head down, hiding his red cheeks. He snapped out of the trance Richie had somehow managed to put him in when the bell rang, meaning it was time for lunch. He was excited to tell his friends about the cute new kid.
Wait, he thought, if i don't ask him, he'll have to eat alone.
"Hey Richie?" he exclaimed.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to eat lunch with my friends and I?" Eddie questioned. Richie was about to nod, but remembered that he had told Ben that he would eat with him.
"I would love to, but I promise someone that I'd eat with them. How about tomorrow?" he asked. Eddie's heart sank as he nodded and walked out the door.
Of course he has someone else, why would he want to eat with you? It's probably a girl. He blinked rapidly, confused on why the thought brought tears to his eyes. Eddie has known that he was gay, but he had never had strong feelings for one, and he had especially never been in a relationship with one. But maybe, just maybe, Richie could be his first, if Eddie ever had the guts to tell him how he felt. He had never met anyone that looked at him the way Richie did, and he loved it. He sighed and put on a soft smile as he neared the lunch room, ready to tell his friends what had just happened.
