(Y/N POV)
"Okay Y/N, we're gonna need you to lay here." Tony points to a table, with rings around it. "Is that your scanner thingy?" I ask nervously. "Yep. No worries, it'll be fun." He gives me a reassuring smile. I take a deep breath. "Okay." I lay down gently, and Tony positions my hands across my stomach. The rings start to move over the table. "Sit tight. We can talk to you from behind that window over there, so you can still hear us." Tony reassures. I nod uneasily. He leaves the room, then reappears behind the window. "You okay Y/N?" Bruce asks. "Yep. I'm awesome. My apartment building got ransacked, I found out weird dudes are chasing me, got taken by the Arachnid Ballerina, told I have powers, and now I'm on a magic examination table trying to pry superpowers out of myself, which may or may not possibly kill me. I'm perfect." I shrug sarcastically. "Wow, I think for once we've actually met someone more sarcastic than Tony." Natasha jokes.
"Wait what- arachnid ballerina? Really? I've gotten Spider-Boy, Bug Boy, pest, stupid arachnid, and other horrible variations of my name, but Arachnid Ballerina? That's just an all time low." Peter pouts.
"It's the tight suit."
"Everyone else's suit is tight!"
"Maybe you're just fun to mess with."
"Clearly." He rolls his eyes. "Bug Boy is a good one though." I smirk and settle back onto the magic examination table thing. "I'm going to start the scan. Let us know if anything feels weird. The scan may be just the thing that could make your powers decide to show up." Bruce explains. I take a deep breath, and the scanning rings start to slowly rotate around me. It's fine for a while, but then my whole body starts to feel fuzzy. "Uh guys, something's not right." I say. "What's wrong?"
"I-I don't know. It's like my entire body is buzzing. It's starting to hurt."
"Do you need us to shut down the scanner?" Steve asks. I shake my head."No- no I want to find out what's going on." I affirm. The scanner keeps whirring. The buzzing feeling starts to ache even worse. I clench my eyes shut, and try not to think about it. "It's eighty percent done Y/N. Almost there." Tony says. I open my eyes again. "Is it supposed to hurt like this?" I ask. No one answers. "Hello? Damsel in pain over here." I say. "Y/N... your eyes are glowing." Peter says.
"What? They are? Is that bad? Am I okay?" I start to feel panicky. "Hold on, it's almost done." Bruce says. The pain is getting close to completely unbearable. "Guys! Hurry up!" I call out, gripping the sides of the scanner in attempt to take my mind off the pain. "Ninety three percent done. So close." Tony tries to reassure. I try being patient. It feels like I'm going to actually explode. "Ninety seven percent." Bruce says. I can't even answer. I don't have the strength to even form a coherent word. "Ninety eight..."(Peter POV)
"Ninety eight." Bruce says. The statistics bar on his screen ever so slowly inching upward. Y/N looks like she's in horrible pain. "Is it over yet?" I ask, looking worriedly through the glass. She may not like me much, but I'd hate to see this hurt her. Through the audio, we hear a snap, and then Y/N let's out a scream of pain. "Tony what is going on?!" Natasha yells, hurriedly heading towards the door of the room. "No! Wait! Ninety nine!" Bruce says. "You're going to kill her!" I say incredulously. White light is beaming out of her eyes and mouth, her fists balled up in pain. "One hundred percent!" Bruce yells. Tony hits the stop button quickly. The light slowly fades from Y/N's mouth, and she gasps in air. Everyone is quiet, waiting for her to process. "Y/N, are you okay?" Natasha says. Y/N let's out a slight laugh of relief. "Not gonna lie, that hurt like a b*tch." She says, closing her eyes and catching her breath. "Do you feel different?" Tony asks.
"Actually, yes. I feel... kind of... strong, and still a little fuzzy." She sits up slowly. "So... what now?" She asks, walking out of the scanning room. "I guess we see what you're capable of. BUT, not before you rest, so you can relax here for the rest of the day, and we'll handle the whole powers thing tomorrow." Tony pats her on the shoulder. So the rest of the day we order take out and let her relax. Tony said that she needed to calm down and feel normal for a while, that it'd probably be good for her. He said that he and Bruce had gone over the data from the scan, and they would go over it with Y/N the next day. So we all hung out together. Y/N got to know all us Avengers more, so she seemed more comfortable. Even got into a video game tournament, which included Mario Kart, Overwatch, Fortnite, etc. I couldn't help watching her the whole time. It's just something about her. She is actually pretty, I wasn't lying when I said she looked like an angel earlier today.
Bright blonde hair, light green eyes, a patch of freckles going across her nose, and her glasses made her cute. Her personality was very not-cute-and-cuddly though. She's tough, sarcastic and witty, and will- well, attempt- to round house kick anyone in the face. Or at least that's what I've gathered so far. She's one of those memes that say "looks like an angel, but could actually kill you" which defines her pretty well. It's now later on in the night, and everyone is in bed. I was sleeping well, but it's now like four A.M. and I'm wide awake and could honestly go for a snack. So I climb out of bed and groggily make my way to the kitchen. I pass the cookie jar on the counter, and open the fridge and get a glass of milk. Maybe that will help me fall back asleep. Long story short, I've now finished my glass of milk and am on my third cookie. I grab a fourth for later, and then walk out of the kitchen towards the living room.
I start heading toward the hall, but I'm thinking my fourth cookie would be cool with a little more milk, so I turn around. Only to come face to face with Y/N. "Gaahff!" I yelp, the cookie in my mouth muffling it. "Sorry! Sorry." She whispers. I close my eyes in relief. "Dude, don't do that." I say after I swallow my bite of cookie. A corner of her mouth turns up. "I was gonna tap you on the shoulder but then you turned around before I could." Her mouth curves into a teasing smile. She notices the cookie in my hand. "Well, you got the right idea." She then turns away from me and goes to the kitchen, and I follow. She opens the cookie jar and gets one of her own. I sit on a stool at the kitchen island, facing her. "So why are you up?" I ask, finishing off the third cookie, and reaching into my pocket for the fourth. "Couldn't sleep. How many cookies is that?" She asks.
"Four."
She gives me a look. I shrug. "What? Don't judge me." I joke. She smiles and shakes her head. We're quiet for a while, I don't think either of us know what to say. Then I speak. "So, how are you holding up? With the whole, powers thing and all." I say. She puts the lid back on the cookie jar. "I mean, I'm okay? I just- I want to figure out what in the world is going on." She sighs. I nod. Silence. "Are you afraid?" I ask. She tilts her head in thought. "A little. But I'm trying not to let it bother me. Can't exactly help being born a super human can you?" She laughs. I smile. "True."
She puts the cookie jar away, and I figured she'd head back to bed, but instead she sits next to me. Maybe she needs company right now. "I was afraid when I got my powers. Back in high school." I say, trying to take the subject off of her some. "Oh?" She says. "Yeah, but I eventually figured it all out. Decided to hide my identity and all." I shrug. "How'd that go in the beginning? Was it hard?" She asks. I chuckle slightly."You have no idea. You should've seen when my best friend Ned found out. Looking back on it now is funny, but back then I was terrified." I smile at the memory. "So... do you think I'll look back at this and smile one day?" She asks. I nudge her shoulder and grin. "Of course you will."
She smiles, looking relived at the bit of reassurance I offered. Sadly, the moment didn't last long, because an alarm started going off. Tony rushes into the room. "What's going on?!" I ask. "I'm not sure." He heads towards the meeting room- the place we're all supposed to meet in an emergency. I grab Y/N's hand and lead her there. As we're walking, the lights start flickering. Once we're all together inside, Steve and Tony close the doors, and bar them shut. "Why are you closing the door?" I ask. "This alarm means there's an intruder inside." Bruce says. "Then why aren't we going after him?!".......
