Chapter 3

As i was enjoying a lucious warm glass of blood there was a knock at the door. I groan Seriously, can't i be left alone to morn the fact that my little sister is doomed to be held captive by Klaus untill he kills her. I sighed and sped to the door. I opened it to see Stefan Salvatore standing there.

"What do you want Stefan? And how on earth did you find out where i lived" i growled.

"It's not hard. Just find a house thats very fancy but blends in. Anyway i came here to talk to you!" he replies so seriously you would think he'd been compelled never to smile, joke or be sarcastic again.

"Fine! But don't expect me to be friendly to you! You ruined my sisters life and are the cause of Klaus finding her!" i growled through gritted teeth. I regretfully opened the door wider and let him in. Just as i closed my door a thought entered my mind. Maybe it would be good to tell him the truth about katherine and why she is like she is today...

I sat down at one end of the couch and he sat on the other. I sighed knowing i had to tell him...

After all katherine couldn't exactly stop me...

"Theres somethings you need to know about katherine Stefan. Her story is very different to what you probably have in mind. Even Katherine wont tell you the whole truth. But that doesn't mean that she lied." i told him slowly.

"What do you mean?" he was sitting much straighter now, obviously eager to hear what really happened to katherine.

"Well katherine has had a hard journey through life. But before i start i need to tell you that every word i say is true and i'm not just lieing for her. My sister had a worse life then anyones. I can't even imagine how hard it was for her. No one should have to ever go through the pain she had to go through in just a little amount of time! Ok, her story started in 1490...

Katherine was just 16 then. She was much like how you think of elena; innocent, beauterful, kind, caring, she was the nicest person you could ever meet. I know you can't believe that but trust me it's 100% true.

My sister wouldn't hurt a fly back then. She hated violance. But then in 1490 she had a baby out of wedlock.

At that time it wasn't considered tolerable for a girl her age to have a child so father took her new born daughter and gave her away. He was too overcome by pride to think about katherine. My sister was devastated to see her beauterful baby girl get taken away. She never even got a chance to hold her.

The day after that my father banished her to England. I was devestated. I told katherine that i would go with her but she didn't want me to go through the pain of saying goodbye to our family. She begged me that i stay so i did. Everyday of not seeing her brought me pain. But every week she would send a letter to me telling me about how she was doing.

One week though in 1492 she told me about two gentlemen she had met, Klaus and Elijah! She told me about how charming Klaus seemed and how he was so interested in her. But unlike her i didn't trust Klaus. Through her letters it seemed he had a dangerous secret and i got a feeling he was not all he seemed.

My suspiciones were confirmed when one day, the day before the full moon i got a letter from her! It was two days early! That was my first clue...

Then when i opened it, instead of her normal, nice, neat handwriting was frantic, scruffy words with tear stains at the sides of the page. That was my second clue...

The letter was much shorter than her normal ones. That was my last clue...

This is exactly what it said:

Dear Sister,

I am in danger!

Klaus and Elijah are vampires! Creatures of the night! I overheard them talking. They want to use me for some kind of sacrifice! I must run! Trevor said he is going to help me! I do not know who to trust anymore!

Be safe, your sister, Katerina."

Stefan was now sat frozen, mouth wide open and eyes full of shock so i continued.

"The day after i stayed at a friends house. But when i got home the next morning i got there to see my family slaughtered. I cryed and cryed untill i had no more tears left.

But when i did stop i was shocked to see my sister running in. She instantly saw our parents covered in blood. She ran to our mothers body and started crying. I comforted her for hours. The next day i asked her to turn me and she did. She told me of how she was certain it was Klaus who murdered our parents, punishment for her running away. From then on we never left eachovers side...

That is untill 1811... I couldn't risk Klaus finding her. I was a danger to her if i stayed with her. It's hard to find one person but it's easier if that person was with another so we split. But i never stopped watching her. I watched her as much as possible. If i couldn't do it myself then i had someone eilse do it. I saw the time she spent at Mystic falls with you and Damon in 1864 too you know.

And just so you know, my sister did love you and she still does. She has been trying to tell you that but you just pushed her away. As for your arrogent brother she had feelings for him but she loved you hundred times more. A lot of people fell for you and Damon both. After all, as my sister once said, who can love one Salvatore but not the other.

And she never did switch her emotions off either, no vampire can truly switch it off because gradually over time you emotions come back. Older vampires don't actually have a switch at all. They just either act like they do or believe they do.

Katherine acts like she has no emotiones left but really it's just a mask! She hides her feelings because when Klaus nearly sacrificed her he ruined her! He made her loose all her trust in love! She thought she loved him. He always told her that he cared for her but he was only messing with her! She found that out when she was eavesdropping on his and his brothers conversaition one night.After that she thought she would never love again but then she met you!

You made her question her faith in love! You gave her a feeling she hasn't felt in a long time; Hope! She never compelled your love! It was all true! She hides her feelings because of fear! Fear that she will never be loved! Fear that you hate her! Fear that you will never love her back!

Fear that Klaus will find out and hurt you!

She still loves you Stefan and that is why she stayed! Why she can still bear all the torture she is going through right now!

Why she carried on watching you through all these years and didn't move on! Why she never truly turned off her emotions! Why she never breaks down!

Just remembering your face gives her hope!

...You are her humanity Stefan...!"
