Chapter 10
Leah's pov
After two days of seeing neither Klaus or the Salvatore brothers, I was so bored I decided to read my sister's childhood diary from when she was 8 up to when she was 16. I didn't give Stefan this one because the information it contains is very personal to both me and my sister and I trust him; I just don't trust him enough! A few tears fell from my eyes as I read. Lets just say that our childhood wasn't exactly the best one and our father was especially hard on Katerina. He hated both of us but more her than me so he treated her worse. I had tried to protect her as much as I could but even I couldn't protect her from our father. One thing is clear. Klaus did us both a favour when he killed our father!

After a while of reading, I hear a knock on the door and open it to find Stefan. I frown at his as I open the door wider so he can enter.
"It has been two days. I'm pretty sure I should be free of Klaus by now and be reuniting with my darling younger sister who should not be here." I said just as Katherine walked in. Stefan looked sheepish.
"Sorry, she kind of tagged along and as for the free of Klaus by now thing... well we kind of ran into some complications." I looked at him with confusion.
"What kind of complications?" I asked suspiciously. Katerina rolled her eyes.
"Elijah bailed on us because Klaus tolled him that their family is still alive and he'll reunite Elijah with them. I kept an eye on Klaus and he's been in werewolf form since the ritual. However, he and Elijah should be here at any moment." I flinched at Elijah's name and although they both noticed, neither asked about it which I was grateful for.
"What are you both doing here anyway?" I asked curiously. I knew that they didn't just come to tell me that Klaus is still alive since I would have found out on my own once Klaus comes back anyway.
"Just enjoying my freedom. By the way I'm still annoyed at you for that. You shouldn't have done that." She said and I rolled my eyes, shaking my head as a way of telling her to let go of it. I turned to Stefan, gesturing for him to tell me why he's here.
"Damon was bitten by a werewolf. The witches told me that Klaus knows the cure." He told me while looking down at his feet. I sighed.
"So do I." I told him simply. He looked up at me hopefully bit I just sighed.
"A stake to the heart." I said bluntly and he glared at me. I raised my hands in surrender.
"Jeez! Just kidding! I do know the cure to a werewolf bite but you still need Klaus for it so I'm not going to bother telling you. You can wait until he gets here." I said smirking as I sat down on the couch along with my sister." Stefan groaned and stood against the wall while glaring at me as I smiled smugly and read some more.

After what seemed like forever, (I had already finished reading the diary since it was quite short), the door finally opened revealing Klaus and Elijah. I refused to make eye contact with Elijah as I nodded to Klaus. He saw Stefan and instantly pinned him against the wall. I rolled my eyes.
"Klaus, stop! He's only here because he needs help for his brother." I told him and he finally let go. Stefan gave me a thankful smile as he clutched his saw throat.
"And why should I help him. He tried to kill me." I rolled my eyes -if I carry on doing that then my eyes are going to get really saw.
"Just hear him out." I told him exhausted. Frankly, he was acting like a 7 year old boy right now rather than a 1000 year old invincible hybrid.
"Fine but first I have an obligation to MY brother that needs to be cared to right away." He said putting an emphasis on the 'my'.
"You understand how important family is or you wouldn't be here. My brother promised he would reunite me with mine." Elijah said and I knew that was directed at both me and Stefan but I still refused to look at him.
"And so you shall be."
Finally, I turned to look at the man I practically betrayed. Our eyes met and the world seemed to stop. My heart raced as I stared into his deep hazel orbs. I saw the pain, betrayal and most of all, love, filling Elijah's eyes.
"Elijah..." I breathed. We both just stood there, thinking about all the things we could have done, all we could have become together; about the future we would have had. I stared at his lips, wanting to kiss him so much that it took every fibre of my body to resist the urge to take his hands and kiss him breathless; to show him how sorry I was; to show him how much I love him!
"Leah..." He mirrored me. His eyes were full of love, longing and pain as he stared at me. I hated seeing the betrayal in his expression but at the same time, I could not look away from his also love filled eyes.
Suddenly, without a warning, our moment was interrupted by Klaus walking up to his brother and putting a dagger into his heart. Elijah's gasp mirrored mine as he looked at Klaus with the same betrayed look that he had been giving me only a second ago.
"Why?" The older original gasped out before he fell to the floor. His skin had turned a light grey and his veins showed. I knelt next to him; I didn't take the dagger out because I knew that if I did, I'd be going against my deal with Klaus. However I couldn't stop a few, lonely tears falling from my eyes as I stared at the sleeping body of the man I love.
