Chapter 9

Elijah's pov

I knocked on Leah's door at precisely 8pm and smiled as I waited for her to answer it however after five minutes of waiting, she never came. I knocked again but still not a single sound. There was no sign that Leah was home. That was strange and he was getting more and more worried my the minute. Deciding to go and check on her he went inside and since no human lived there he could easily walk in.

He walked into the livingroom but found it cold and not a soul was there. He tried every room with no success until he came upon what he guessed was Leah's bedroom. The room showed her personality perfectly (well the furniture did) however the room was missing of all Leah's personal items. This includes half her closet, a few books on the bookshelves were gone. All her jewellery was gone as well as a few other things. The draws were flinged open as if she had been in a rush. What the hell had made her leave without telling anybody? Why was she in such a hurry to leave?

From the corner of his eye, a small piece of paper caught his eye. He made his way over to the desk which the paper was on and picked it up. As he began reading it, shock covered his face.

Dear Elijah,

I'm sorry I cannot be here to tell you this in person but I'm not allowed. The reason I cannot go on our date which I had looked toward to is very complicated and one I know you will understand, even if you do not like it.

I gave my sister some vervain and a phone recently, which she she hid from Klaus. I have been texting her through it and these texts include vital information. This includes me being part witch. Klaus found her phone and saw the texts. He tricked me into thinking he was gone for the day so I visited my sister but ran into him instead.

I made a deal with him. He will spare my sister and never harm her again as long as I become his personal witch for as long as he says and help him when he says. You know how important family is so you understand why I must protect my sister.

After I turned, I promised myself that I would protect her until my last dieing breath. I had failed to be there for her and protect her in her time of need when we we're human but I won't repeat that mistake as a vampire.

Being forced to work for Klaus means that we most likely can never be together and that hurts me for I really felt a connection with you. But I have to protect Katerina. I hope you can one day find it in your noble heart to forgive me. Know that my heart belongs to you; I fell in love with you. The moment I saw you it was love at first sight!

Yours forever,

Leah Petrova!

As he finished reading a single tear fell from his eye and ran down his face. In that moment Elijah knew! He knew it was love at first sight and that he would fight for Leah until the end!

Leah's pov

Earlier that day I had went back to my house and packed the things I needed. I knew I didn't have much time before Klaus would get suspicious that I was doing more than just getting my stuff so I was quick in doing what I had to. I wrote a letter to Elijah. I knew that when I did not answer the door for our date that he would get worried and search the house. He would find my letter and hopefully he would understand why I was doing this.

I sighed as I glanced one more time at the place I used to call my bedroom. This would be the last time I would ever stepped foot in here. I put the note down before I walked out of my house and sped to Alaric/Klaus's apartment. I opened the door to find my sister there, sitting on the couch looking confused. Klaus was talking to one of his witches, Greta I think. As I stepped inside Katerina became even more confused and slightly worried. I looked at Klaus, not meeting my sister's eyes. I felt guilty for leaving her but if it means her freedom then I'll do anything!

"There you are love. Katerina you can go, your beautiful sister here, has made a deal with me. Her as my personal witch for however long I want, in exchange for your freedom. Now leave before I change my mind." Katerina glanced from me to Klaus. I gave her an apologetic look as she left me alone with Klaus.

As the door closed behind my sister, Klaus walked up to me and handed me a piece of paper. I raised an eyebrow at him before looking at the paper he gave me. Reading over it, I realised that it was spell and not just any spell but the one needed to perform the sacrifice ritual. I looked at him hesitantly.

"I can't do this spell Klaus. Since the doppelganger is a Petrova it means a Petrova witch can't perform it or the ritual will fail." I told him; he nodded, accepting my answer. It wasn't exactly a lie but that wasn't the main reason I couldn't do it. The main reason is that although I have enough power, I can't use much or I loose control and bad things happen...

Klaus glanced at his watch. I suddenly realised that it was probably about time to do the ritual. That must be what he was talking to Greta about. Speaking of, where did she go?

"I'll be going with Greta to get everything and everyone ready. Don't leave or Katerina will pay the price. Goodbye, love." I waved as he left. Let's just hope Damon and Stefan succeed in killing Klaus...
