Abby

"Hey, don't worry Abby, it's gonna be a great night, I promise", her cousin Cassie said.

Abby smiled a little. Cassie took her hand and pulled her on the dance floor. The music was a second heartbeat, loud enough to drown her thoughts out. Her thoughts of cracked lips and irony and green eyes.

"Come on! Don't think of that Nick boy, let's just have some fun"

But Abby wasn't thinking of Nick at all. There was a tiny Leah spooking around in her brain, making her think of what a great night she could have had, at waffle house.

But Cassie wanted to go out and she hadn't done anything with her in so long, so she needed to go.

And now she was here, dancing with her cousin, well at least until she left Abby with nothing but some beer for a guy who was a foot taller than her and his talents included other things than dancing.

Abby didn't remember how much she was drinking or at what point she ended up next to the door, but she did remember that it was late and that Cassie had just left with the guy. Her back hurt and her dress was torn some reason, or was that her vision? She tried to stand up but fell right back to her feet. Her eyes closed almost automatically, but she couldn't sleep here, not in a random disco. But she was so tired... Her legs hurt too, whatever she had been doing and drinking, it wasn't the best experience ever.

She should have just went to waffle house with Leah. They could have discussed Harry Potter, talk about whatever anime series she was into now and Abby would have at least been able to look at her.

Where was she supposed to go now? She was alone without a car, without the girl she came here with and she just felt absolutely lost. Abby wasn't sure when she started crying exactly, but she did know that her make-up was totally messed up and there was only one number she remembered good enough to call right now.

There was only one person she wanted to see. Leah with her sarcasm and her tenderness.

She slowly dialled her number, maybe three, maybe four times. Her hands were shaking or was it the phone? She wasn't exactly sure if it was the right one, but she was determined to get away from here. What if she was mad at her? But at least she could prove that she hadn't made up an excuse. It was kind of pathetic to call her up though, the only person in her life that was semi-reliable. But she needed her, she had needed her for so long and especially right now.

"What the fuck, Abby. Okay, I'll be there in ten minutes."

That was Leah's voice and Abby couldn't stop herself from sighing a little. Of course she would be there when needed. She would always be there.
