Chapter 3

The sun is already going down slowly. That was a beautiful day. You're getting along great with the Gems. Especially with spinel. Looks like she's quickly taken to you too. You turn to the group, "I must say goodbye now." Steven nods, "All right, hope we see you again." Spinel on the other hand shakes her head uncomprehendingly: "You want to go? So when will I see you again? Will you ever come back?" "Yes, sure, Spinel. We can meet again tomorrow." She looks at you incredibly, and takes your hand. "No, I don't want you to leave!" Tears form in her eyes. Steven tries to convince her that you'II come back, but she won't listen and ignores him completely. You can understand, after what Spinel's been through, she has trust issues and fear of loss. You think about it and sigh. "Will you stay at my hotel?" Spinel jumps on "YAY!" and gives you a big hug by wrapping her arms around you several times. You laugh at it. Steven: "Is this really okay, (y/n)?" "Of course" you answer him. On the way to the hotel Spinel asks you what you are going to do there. How can she have so much energy? Doesn't she get tired? You rub your eyes. "Spinel, I'm so tired, I want to go to bed." The Pink Gem looks at you questioningly. "Go to sleep?" You nod. "Yes, go to sleep. Aren't you tired?" She shakes her head. "I'm a Gem, we don't get 'tired.' " You stop. "What? But what will I do with you? I must go to bed." Cluelessly she replies, "Can't I come with you?" "So you have no idea what sleep is, well then I'll explain." You try to explain to her as best you can what sleep is and how it works. Spinel looks confused: "Well, okay... I can try it. Maybe it's not as boring as I think." You laugh a bit. "Okay, then do that." You arrive at the hotel and go to your room. Now you remember that there's only one bed here. "Um, Spinel I only have one bed, so I'll sleep on the couch." She shakes her head. "Why don't we share the bed?" You blush a little. "Uh, um, yeah, sure. If that's not a problem for you." Suddenly there's a knock on the door. Spinel: "I'll get it." "No! Shit, um... hiding ... in here!" You push her into a closet. "Please be quiet." Spinel was totally confused about what's wrong with you. You guess who's at the door and open it. Your boss... "Is everything going as planned so far?" "Oh, yeah, everything's fine." You were nervous she'd notice, or your boss would say something wrong and Spinel would hear. "Well, then... I hope the plan works out by the end of the week. I hope you stick to it." She says the last sentence seriously, and the serious look is on you. You nod nervously, hoping she'll leave as soon as possible. "Well... I'll see you around." With this sentence your boss leaves and you close the door relieved. "May I come back out?" You hear the voice of the pink gem coming out of the closet. "Yes, you can come out." Spinel walks out of the closet confused and looks at you, she wants an explanation. You sigh, "It's just my boss." "Didn't you say you were only taking a week's vacation?" Right... you're trying to talk your way out of it. "Oh did I? My mistake." "No big deal. What plan was she talking about?" "Spinel I'm too tired to talk about it now. Tomorrow okay?" She nods. "Fine, I'll just go to the bathroom and change." You say that while you're getting out your pajamas. "But you'll be back!" "Of course I will. How could I not come back?" Spinel shrugs and looks at the floor. "I don't know, maybe you don't want me here and leave me alone." "No, believe me, you won't get rid of me that easily. Besides, I can't escape from the bathroom." "Okay." Spinel smiles slightly and sits on the bed. "I'll hurry, I promise." With this sentence, go to the bathroom and get ready. When you finish and open the bathroom door, you're scared because you didn't expect Spinel to be right there. "How long have you been standing there? I thought you were waiting on the bed." "I've been standing here the whole time." "Well then..." You go to bed, Spinel do the same. The bed is a single bed so you're pretty close together. "You make me feel safe." Says Spinel, snuggling up to you. You blush a bit, smile and snuggle up to her too. You think it's really comfortable lying next to her. She was so cuddly and warm. The feeling of always wanting to protect her... The plan, and why you're here in the first place... you suddenly just forget it. You don't care about your job, school, even your father...
