"Mr Stark?"

"What do you want, Peter?" Mr Stark didn't look back at me. He reached to the side and grabbed a screwdriver, before going back to what he was working on.

"Well, I thought you'd want to know that Percy left really early this morning. I would've followed her, but some burglars tried to break into an apartment and the man who lives there is really old and he's nice and-"

"Underoos, slow down. What about that Percy girl?"

"She left super early this morning and she hasn't come home yet. I can hear Sally pacing and ranting, so I'm guessing Percy snuck out. I thought I should let you know."

He sighed. His shoulders fell and he turned to look at me. "Pete, I appreciate you trying to keep me in the loop, but spying on her would be Nat's job not yours. As far as I'm concerned, she's just a normal kid who happened to steal a bunch of stuff from a museum."

"But-"

"Kid, she's a teenager. I snuck out every chance I got, I would honestly be more concerned about her stealing that stuff if she didn't sneak out and do other things like that. If she acted the perfect poster child and stole priceless artifacts then I'd be worried. Grab one of your projects. We might as well get some work done."

I nodded and walked over to one of the half-finished machines on a table. I picked it up with one hand and grabbed my toolbox with the other. I felt eyes on me and I looked at Mr Stark, who was staring. "What?"

"Nothing, kid." Mr Stark shook his head. "Here." He moved his stuff so I could put my project down beside him. We worked quietly for a little bit, before Mr Stark asked Friday to play some music. He started singing to whatever played. If the music went off, I didn't doubt that he'd be able to keep on singing, even without the beat. Eventually, I found myself singing along with him. I don't know how long we worked, there were no clocks in the room, but at one point it was getting hard for me to keep my eyes open. I yawned.

It was a mistake.

The music shut off and Mr Stark put his tools down. "Time for bed. I'll call your aunt and tell her you're staying over."

"I'm not tired!"

"Sure. Now come on. There's pajamas in your room. Pepper is coming over and I think we could deal with a game night."

"Really?"

"Yeah, Pep is always going on about how I need to do more 'normal bonding activities' but since when have I ever done normal?"

I laughed and followed him as he pulled me into the living room. He practically shoved me onto the couch. I didn't protest. I laid there with my face against a throw pillow. Mr Stark disappeared somewhere, but if I asked Friday I knew she'd tell me exactly where he was.

"Did Tony work you to exhaustion again?" Ms Potts rested a hand on my back.

"I'm not tired," I mumbled.

"Sure. Now how about you go get changed, hm? Tony's picking out a game."

"Sure, Ms Potts."

"Peter, what have I told you to call me?"

"Sorry, Pepper."

"It's alright. Now go get changed."

I nodded and went to my room. I pulled open a drawer and grabbed a pair of pajamas. It didn't take long for me to change; it didn't take long for me to be sitting on the couch next to Pepper.

"How about Quelf?"

"I don't know what that is, Tony."

"Neither do I. Why do we have this game?"

"Don't ask me. Just grab Candyland or Chutes and Ladders or Sequence or something."

Mr Stark walked over. He placed the box on the floor, sat down, and opened it. He spread out the board and shuffled the cards. "I call red."

"Then I get blue," I said, sliding off of the couch. Mr Stark looked over at me and grinned.

"Nice pjs."

I looked down at my shirt. It matched the pants, and neither of them were Hello Kitty. Instead they were Iron Man. My face heated up and I buried it in my hands.

"You're the youngest, Pete. You go first. Draw a card."

I drew a card and placed a blue chip on a five of hearts, Pepper went next and placed a yellow chip on seven of diamonds, and Tony placed a red piece on an ace of spades. Our turns continued in that manner as we played. I rubbed at my eyes and placed a piece to block Pepper's.

My body slowly drifted sideways until I was leaning against a warm body. Pepper wrapped an arm around me. "Do you want to go to bed, Peter?"

"No."

"Are you tired but you want to stay up?"

I nodded. Another hand rested on my shoulder. It was bigger and had a stronger grip, that couple with Pepper's other hand being well within my view led to the conclusion that it was Mr Stark.

"Time to get you to bed." He easily lifted me and carried me to my room. My head rested against his chest as he carried me through the hallway. I could hear his heartbeat, along with the slight hum of the nanotech arc reactor under his shirt. "Friday, get the door." There was a small hiss of it opening. Next thing I knew, I was dropped unceremoniously on the bed. He ruffled my hair. "Night, kid."

As soon as the door closed behind him, a smile spread on my face. "Night..."
