Chapter 4

the girl finished with the police and came back to me and asked if we could go anywhere but here, I nodded and said goodbye to Danny

"who were you talking to?" the girl asked me. "Danny, he helped fund my case"

"your case?"

"Yeah, a while back I was kidnapped," I said. and she fell silent. 

"let's go home," I said with a smile and she nodded. "by the way I never asked your name?" I said and she let out a silent oh. 

"Mia" she said and I sat in awe of her beautiful name "I'm Y/n" I said with a smile. the rest of the way home was filled with us talking, getting to know each other. "hey Mia?" I got her attention when I heard her hum "would you be against me adopting you?" I asked and her eyes widened

"why would you do that? we haven't even known each other for 3 hours" she said and I giggled "true, but I already have someone working one it. I know what foster homes are like, and I know what it feels like to be hurt by many people" I said "that's why I want to keep you safe, your dads already out of the picture, and all we have to do is find you a new school and you're home free" I said with a smile and she smiled too

we finally got to my apartment. it's a 2 bedroom apartment, I got it cause it was cheaper than the 1 bedroom ones. good thing I did though. I would've never seen this coming. but I would never go back. cause I know I did the right thing!

I showed her to her room seeing as it was well after 1 am, and I had to be up at 8 am to go to work. we said our goodnight and we both went off to bed.

I woke up to my stupid alarm once again. I turned it off with a groan. I lay there for a few seconds before deciding to get up before I'm late to work.

when I walk into the kitchen and see Mia there sitting at the table, she was reading a book from one of my bookshelves. "good morning" I said rubbing my eyes as I realized there was breakfast on the table. "you made breakfast?" I asked and she looked up from her book to nod

"thank you" I said with a smile as I sat down across the table from her. I started eating the french toast and eggs in silence till I thought of something I should probably address.

"I have to go to work soon, I won't be home till around 6. if you give me the name and number of your school I'll call them and explain everything, and you can search for a new school," I said then took another bite of food. she just hummed and continued reading her book.

"what page are you on?" I asked "85" 

"good" then I take the book out of her hands and closed it, setting it aside. "new rule, when at the table, we socialize" she looked shocked as I continue eating. "you have plenty of time to read today, but when we're at this table I want to know you, and how your day went. Are you okay with that?" I asked after I finished my food and walked over to the sink

I heard her hum

"good. sorry if I'm being harsh"

"no not at all! I've never had someone care for me like this" she said and that made me smile "well you better get used to it cause you're stuck with me" I said and she giggled. 

"if you're adopting me, what do you want me to call you? mom?"  she asked and I laughed shaking my head "just call me by my name, you're only 5 years younger than me" we both laughed and she nodded. I put my hand on her head. "I got to get ready for work. so the house is yours. just don't break anything, help yourself to any and all books. you can use my laptop if you want, I'll leave the password beside it" I said with a smile and she nodded with a smile as well

I went back and got ready for work. I put the password by the laptop like I said I would before grabbing my purse and keys, telling Mia I'm leaving before I leave. 

I walked to the JYPE building. clocked in and started heading towards the practice rooms to get the idols some breakfast.

I did exactly as I did yesterday. I got everyone's orders placed, then when I got to Stray Kids practice room I hesitated. but I sucked it up and knocked louder than yesterday hoping they would hear me more clearly through the loud music going on inside.

and once again Chan answered the door. I smiled at him and I could see the guys in the back just looking at me "hey Chan, I'm back" I said making his giggle with a nod as he moved to the side to let me in "hello to you to Y/n"

I walked in and was immediately embraced by Hyunjin "how are you today Y/n?" he said and I couldn't help but love the way my name sounded rolling off his tongue 

I smiled "I don't know, you tell me," I said and he couldn't help but smile as well. "you seem happier," he said and I nodded before taking everyone's orders and placing them as Hyunjin just clung onto me the entire time. 

when I was done I had to go get the food and of course, Hyunjin came with me.

he held my hand on the way to the elevator. "so what's got you so happy today?" he asked with a smile "I saved someone, she lives with me now and she's an amazing girl" I said with a smile remembering Mia

"saved?" he questioned and I nodded with a hum "I was walking home last night, and she jumped off a bridge, but luckily I caught her just in time," I said looking down 

"Does she have anywhere to go?" he asked swinging our hands. "yes. she's staying with me, I met one of the men who worked my case, and he has started the paperwork. I'm adopting her Hyunjin" I said jumping up and down with excitement.

he let out a heavenly giggle as he held both my hand while we waited for the elevator "I'm so happy for you Y/n" he said and I smiled the biggest I ever had in that one moment
