TW: suicide attempt, depressing thoughts. You can read safely until the bold cursive TW letters, just skip that part and you can read again from the bold cursive END TW letters. I'll put a summary of what happened after the TW. Stay safe!

It had been a few days since Lydia told her friends about Adam and Barbara. Nothing much had happened since then, but Lydia was very excited for tonight. Adam and Barbara were going to scare her dad and Delia for her. They'd finally be able to leave this place.

Finally.

Lydia opened their group chat.

other emo: I'm rly excited for tonight!!

emo: Yeah, me too
emo: I'm happy for you

forest expert: Same
forest expert: I'm just really going to miss you :(

Lydia smiled sadly. She was going to miss the few friends she made too. But she'd left her best friend Luna when she moved, and she missed her even more.

other emo: same, I'll miss you guys so much!
other emo: it's just, I really think it's better this way

forest expert: I understand
forest expert: Just, maybe you should go?
forest expert: It's almost 10, you're going to scare them then, right?

other emo: yeah, ttyl!

emo: bye

Lydia shut down her phone and took a shaky breath. She mentally prepared for what she was going to do. But she had to do this. It really was better.

Lydia went to call Adam and Barbara and quickly rushed to her dad's room.

"DAD! THEY'RE CHASING ME, THEY'RE CHASING ME!" she screamed loudly, embracing her father and holding him tightly.

"Woah, Lydia, what're you talking about?" Charles said confused. Behind Lydia, Adam and Barbara were being "scary". Well, they tried their best.

Lydia went to her dad's bed and grabbed the blanket to hide behind. But everything changed when she revealed Delia sitting on the bed. Lydia dropped the blanket, shocked. What the hell was happening?

"Dad, why is Delia in your bed?" she asked softly. She didn't know how she felt. Disappointed. He couldn't just do this after the death of his wife - the death of Lydia's mother! Lydia knew it was ridiculous, but it felt like her dad was cheating on Emily. Her mom only died a few months ago, and now Lydia found her dad and stepmom in this position.

"Lydia, I," his voice broke, "I asked Delia to marry me." Lydia stared at him in shock. She felt numb. But also sad. It was weird. Lydia felt this numbness she'd felt the first month after Emily died, but she also was just so very disappointed. She couldn't remember what she said in the conversation that followed. Lydia was shaking, crying. She vaguely noticed Delia trying to comfort her. It didn't work. Of course it didn't work.

Nothing would make this numbness and pain inside Lydia lessen. She just stood there for what seemed like at least an eternity.

Lydia felt bad. Like, really bad. She knew the death of her mom had pulled her into depression, but it hasn't been that terrible. Until now. Lydia was done. Done with everything.

She shook Delia's hand of her shoulder and noticed she'd been crying pretty badly. She didn't care. She didn't care about anything.

"I wish I was dead," she bit harshly and she stormed past the shocked Maitlands. "Lydia!" Charles called. Lydia barely noticed him. She just rushed out of the room, it surprised her that she could see where she was going through the tears that had filled her eyes. She ran. Away from her "parents".
