*Two Weeks Later*
"That wasn't the only reason" I open my eyes when I hear tara and heath arguing I grab my black waterproof backpack as they keep arguing. "And yeah we did you know we did" I run my hand through my hair and I hear heath say "see, that's the thing you saw how we were living back home before you guys got there". I bite my lower lip as I try to be as quiet as I can as I slip on my blue jean shorts and I change bra's and find a shirt in my backpack which was a white shirt that had lips on the front with the word 'Love'.
I ease to the doorway which was closed thank god and heath says "we didn't know shit" I feel anger course through me why is he ragging on tara though?. I roll my eyes and he says "we thought" I raise an eyebrow and lean against the door and my arms cross as tara asks "what?". He never answers her and tara keeps questioning "what?" like she was getting frustrated I would be too if I was in her position. I run my hand through my long locks and I feel knots I groan quietly and he says "it's doesn't matter I get it now".
I uncross my arms and he says "if it's you or someone else, you choose you you take what you can, you take out who you have to, and you get to keep going". I nodd in agreement he is absolutely right about that and besides those saviors were nothing but bad men they killed one of the kids in my survivor group Rory he was sixteen years old he was my age. He may have not known how to handle himself but at least he still fought to survive and then heath says "nobody's in this together, okay? not anymore". Before I could say anything tara says "hey it only hurts because you know what you just said is total bullshit" I smile at what tara just said.
That is my best friend right there besides Chrissy that is and she continues on "that's not you, Heath". I smile after what she said and he says "tara that's me that's you and that's everybody who wants to stay alive". My smile fades how does he mean nobody is in this together anymore? what does he think my group is all about? this is what it takes to survive it's a kill or be killed world. "That's the truth" I scoff quietly and cross my arms and I hear him "we can push towards the shore, but after today we go back even if we just have those rusty cans".
Once he starts the RV I step out of the backroom I place my hand on tara's shoulder and I whisper "I get what you're saying it's a kill or be killed world we gotta adapt to it". She smiles at me and we keep driving until we get on one of the bridges and something was blocking it. I grab my backpack and my sniper gun and we make it to the wall I toss up my backpack and the gun and I try to reach it but I was too short heath gets up there easily. I scoff and I say "gee thanks jolly green giant" tara snickers and she holds up her hands for my foot I step in and her hand touches my ass as she boosts me up.
I smile when I get to the top I reach down for her and help her pull up and tara stands between heath and I as we stare out at the cars on the other side of the wall and tents. She turns to heath and she asks "what do we think?" he stares at everything and I say "there's lotta blind spots rae what if there's a sniper in the trees or something?". She turns to look at me and heath says "I mean if there was a sniper wouldn't we be dead already?". I nodd in agreement "yeah yer right let's go" I grab my gun and my bag and jump down.
Tara and Heath ease down it and check the cars I have my gun pulled and we check the tarps first of course heath said to check them first which I could care less. I look at tara "hey I'm gonna climb to the top of this RV so I can get a good vantage point so I can see better this doesn't feel right". Heath sends me a worried expression and he says "you sure about that? about splitting up?". I shrug and I reply "we're not splitting up I'm just getting a good sightline so I can keep an eye on ya'll".
I roll my eyes and walk away and tara says "hey dally?" I turn around and she says "be careful". I send her a smile and a wink "I'll be okay rae I'm not gonna be far". She chuckles and I make my way over to the RV and I find the ladder to the top and I climb my way up and I stand on top of the RV and I find them in my scope I throw my backpack down beside me and I get down in a sniper position. Which was on my stomach I smile when tara leans down to grab a bag and starts to pull it must be stuck on something.
