*The Next Day*
When I woke up the next morning tara wakes me up to tell us that we were leaving I grab my backpack and start packing things up. I change clothes which so happened to be a black tank top with blue jean shorts with a pair of see-through leggings underneath. I walk outside and find tara talking to natania and as we walk behind Beatrice and Kathy Rachel spits on the ground beside me and gives me a narrowed gaze I smirk and say "see ye later, Rochelle". She scoffs and yells after me "it's Rachel" I giggle and reply "oh well I'm not gonna remember it anyway" I turn around and flip her off.
I giggle and walk ahead and walk through the woods I spot a bell hanging from a tree and tara asks "how far are we from the bridge?". I walk ahead of tara and stick behind Kathy and she says "about halfway there" I turn to Beatrice and I say "sorry about the hit Beatrice" she chuckles and replies "you got lucky". I bite my lower lip and I hear snarls and I say "I got it" I walk over to the walker caught in a tree and right as I lift my knife I scream "tara run". I throw my knife and it hits Kathy's hand and one of the bullets that Kathy fired hits my upper arm I scream in pain right as she screams from my knife as I take off running and tara runs the opposite direction of me.
I keep running through the woods and I hit the tree's and fall down a hill and Beatrice runs by me I grab the backup knife that I keep in my boot. I take it out and start to raise up and I look at the top of the ditch and see Beatrice with my gun I growl I was wondering where the hell my gun was. I jump up and tackle her to the ground and I try to stab her but she overpowers me and gets me on my back and then I grab my knife and she jumps up and grabs my gun and aims it at me. I take a deep breath "please I could have killed you back at the village let me go".
She scoffs and looks at me like I'm crazy "you don't have anything left your people are dead". I breathe heavy and I shake my head and she continues "the saviors that satellite post you took out you have no idea what you started". I shake my head at her "we didn't start anything we ended it they're dead" she shakes her head at me as she starts to cry "you didn't stop them you can't stop them that was just an outpost there are more saviors more outposts if they know about your friends it's already too late for them". I step forward as tears roll down my cheeks "the saviors did this to you? they're the ones that killed all your men?" tears start to roll down her cheeks as she relives that painful memory "every man every boy over ten they lined em up and shot them in the head you see we tried to fight just like you did they won and we were supposed to keep working for them then one night we just left we got away okay? we are not gonna let you lead them back to us they get what they want I'm sorry you didn't get".
Then out of nowhere, Cyndie tackled Beatrice to the ground and she screams "go run". I take off into the woods and I keep running until I make it to a clearing where I see tara and I scream "tara". She turns around and my body collides with hers and she hugs me tightly and then we break apart when we hear Cyndie catch up to us. I was trying to catch my breath and it looked like tara just ran a marathon and I turn and I say to Cyndie sarcastically when I see she's holding a gun on us "you're not gonna shoot us". She chuckles sarcastically "because I saved you two?" I chuckle and tara says "three times now you're not gonna shoot us".
I stand to my feet and she says "you have to swear that you won't come back or tell anyone about this place, not even you're own people". Tara stands to her feet and I do to and she says "why would I come back? why would I tell anyone about this place?" I nodd in agreement and I say "you have nothing we want so why would we tell anyone about oceanside?". She opens her arms and she says "because maybe you could get something out of it anything". I scoff and cross my arms over my chest and she says "why did you kill those two people who just came near to us?".
I tighten my ponytail and she asks us "why did you kill all those men at that satellite station?" I roll my eyes and she turns to me and I say "well newsflash Cyndie those men inside that satellite station were not men they were tyrant and rapists and Simon's men let me tell you something kiddo in this world it's either kill or be killed well, in the end, I'm gonna pick me over them because I watched as Simon gunned down a sixteen-year-old kid named Rory he was one of my closest friends who was my age just to make a point now if you wanna hide in your corner of the world you go right on ahead honey but that's not what I'm gonna do so don't stand there and judge us for what we did because at least my group and my family isn't hiding from them at least we're standing up to them".
