When I woke up that night I was still cuddled into tara's side and I couldn't help but smile this is something I could get used to. I ease out of the bed I slip on one of her shirts and some underwear and a pair of her shorts I walk out to the kitchen and I raid the cabinets. I smile when I find some deer jerky most likely from my dad and a jar of pickles. I grab them both and grab the jerky and the pickles I grab a plate and put them both on it and maggie had started growing cucumbers and she made some pickles with them and they have been marinating inside that jar for at least a month.
I turn the living room light on I turn the tv on and I go through the VHS tapes and I find the movie 'Con Air' with Nicholas cage. I find myself smiling that was one of mine and uncle merle's favorite movies and then when I just started the movie. I look up when I hear my door open and tara makes her way down the hall and her eyes find mine she looked absolutely cute wrapped up in my blanket. She sends me a soft smile and she asks "you ok?" I nodd at her and I say "I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep I got the munchies too".
She snickers and makes her way over to me and she sits beside me and I sit my plate down which still had my pickle on it. She wraps her arm around me and I lean my head onto her shoulder and I grab the bag of deer jerky and I hand it to her. She grabs one and we continue to watch the movie and she asks "what movie is this? I see Nicholas Cage and John Malkovich". I giggle and I lean against her and her arm still wrapped around me and I say "Con Air you see Cameron had just got home from overseas and his wife just found out she was pregnant and a group of guys was gonna hurt the wife and Cameron killed one of them well he went to prison for it even though he was defending his wife and now his little girl is Casey and she's five or six and he gets out and the convicts hijack the plane".
She gasps and we continue to watch it and it got to the part where he stayed on and he didn't get off and she asks "and he stayed on why?". I giggle and turn to her as I eat another piece of deer jerky and I say "because he didn't wanna leave guard bishop or baby o they are his friends". She shrugs and she says "can't really say nothing because if it was you or daryl or rosita I would stay on there with ya'll". I turn to her and I say "you would stay on there with me?" she nodded at me and I lean up and give her a kiss on the lips and she smiles when I break away "I don't deserve you rae".
She kisses the back of my head and she says "yes you do doll face". I smile when Cameron sees Casey for the first time and I say at the same time as Cameron "hello hummingbird". I lean closer to tara and she giggles and she says "aww he called her hummingbird" I look up at tara and she says "look at little Casey she's adorable". He tries to hand Casey the present and she leans into her mom's hip and she says "aww she's scared".
I send tara a smile and I say "keep watching this is the best part" her eyes not once left the tv screen and Casey says "I got a picture a picture of you". Tara gasps and covers her mouth with her hands and she says "that's so sweet she's got a picture of him". She grabs the bunny rabbit out of his hand and Cameron says "Happy Birthday Darlin". I climb into tara's lap she wraps her arms around my waist as I lay my head into her shoulder and we hear Leann rimes sing 'How do I live' in the background and she hugs her dad for the first time ever.
He brings his wife into his arms and he holds his family and that brings a smile to my face and tara says "aww that was good and cute". I kiss her cheek and I say "yeah that was mine and my uncle's favorite movie" she turns to me and she says "my favorite movie is 'Freaky Friday' the Lindsay lohan version". I giggle and shake my head and I say "mine is a tie between Con Air, Broken Arrow, and Chill Factor" she rolls her eyes at me, and then after that we both went to bed.

Tara and I get inside our car as we make the drive down to Alexandria she said she missed being down there and I was going down there with her plus we were attacking another outpost tomorrow and rick wanted us with his group. The whole way there we talked and talked I don't think we were ever not talking to each other and it felt weird but a good weird. We finally made it and we were loading up the guns up in duffle bags and I was helping carl assemble the guns and I see carl and rick talking. I walk up to him and I cross my arms when I watch carl hug rick and I say "okay cowboy I see them wheels turning in your head what are you thinking?".
He turns to me and I see a hint of a smile on his face and he says "I'm just thinking about that guy dad scared off and I don't know why I wanna help him but I don't wanna go alone". I send him a smirk and I cross my arms over my chest "okay here's what we're gonna do me and you together we will watch each other's backs out there your not going alone". He fist-bumps me and I say "Grimes and a Dixon we're the next generation of our dads" I smile at him and I turn to rick and I say "I'm gonna stay here ya'll go I'm gonna keep an eye on carl and Judith". He sends me a soft smile and he hugs me and he whispers "thank you" I rub his back and dad approaches me and he hugs me again.
I turn to carl when they leave and I ask "now where was this guy at? was it far from here?". He shakes his head at me and I say "well come on cowboy lets go save a life" he smiles at me and we start the walk to where he last saw the guy. But he was right we weren't far from where rick shot at him and we had food for him when we actually find him. Carl and I keep walking through the woods and I find a set of footprints on the ground and I had my black desert eagle out.
I kept following behind carl and make sure we stayed quiet once we finally came across him and carl says "hey do you remember me? this is my friend 'Dahlia' my name is 'Carl' I was with my dad the last time you saw me". He nodded at him and my eyes widened when I finally get a good look at the guy that he saved I gasp in surprise "Siddiq?". Once his eyes fell onto me behind carl a smile crosses his tan face and he gasps "Dahlia?" I walk over to him and I wrap my arms around his neck. He wraps his arms around me and he says "I haven't seen you since the day before the field trip to come up here".
I nodd in agreement and Siddiq was meant to be part of my group for the field trip to the class up here he was part of the senior program but he pulled out the day before because he had a final to take that day. I turn to carl and I say "he was supposed to be part of my group for the field trip but he had a senior final to take so he had to pull out he was a teacher's aid right?". I turn to him and he nods at me and he says "oh my gosh look at you you're all grown up now". I smile at him and carl says "so what do you say we get out of here? we are kinda exposed right now".
I nodd in agreement and I say "come on let's go home" we walked through the woods and then we come across a couple of walkers. I turn to Siddiq and hand him my knife I had an extra one and I say to carl "you can use your gun you have a silencer". He nodded at me and I pull one by the shirt and stab the walker in the head and we stay back to back so they don't sneak up onto us. Once the walkers were killed I turn to carl and I say as a joke "now aren't you glad you didn't come alone?".
He chuckles and he fist bumps me and once we made it back to Alexandria we see everyone back already and once rick's eyes fell onto us. I see him send a pissed off look to carl and I say "it was either he went alone and he was going with or without me so I chose with me". Dad sends me a look and I say "and besides I know him he was one of my teacher's aids in school when I was little". I walk Siddiq to one of the houses and I walk over to the garage which had clothes in it and I find some clothes that are his size.
I take them back to the house that my pop uses when he comes down here and I leave the clothes on his bed. I sit outside on the porch and tara walks from rick's house and sits beside me. She wraps her arm around me I lay my head onto her shoulder and we don't talk while she was with me it was like she knew exactly what I needed. I feel her lips come in contact with my forehead and runs her hand through my hair.
I place my hand on her waist and she interlocks out fingers. I bring her fingers to my mouth and kiss her knuckles and she says "I understand why you did it we need people to defeat negan". I nodd in agreement and I turn around when I hear footsteps walking outside and I see Siddiq walk out and in his new clothes when his eyes find mine. He sends me a smile and I say "you feel better?" he nodded in agreement and I say "Siddiq this is my girlfriend tara".
He sends her a smile and he says "nice to meet you tara" she smiles at him and I say "why don't you take one of the guest bedrooms? you look like you are about to keel over". He nods at me and he turns to look at the house across from ours and that night I went to be on watch with dad and the whole night we stayed quiet.
