It happened in fall.
No matter how many years had passed since that moment, that was the one thing he would always remember.
It happened in fall.
One of those perfect days between the heat of summer and chill of winter. He recalled that because it was the first time he'd been able to wear his new favorite hoodie to school.
He was supposed to be at Jimin's. Not cruising down the aisles of some random convenience store. But Jimin never had any good snacks and frankly he was tired of eating dry cereal and pretending it was the greatest thing in the world.
It didn't happen in any cliche fashion. They weren't the cashier and the second they laid eyes on each other there was a spark. They weren't the person who he bent down to help pick up their change and their hands brushed as he handed it over.
No. He could never have been that lucky. It just had to be some random person who entered as he left, their shoulders brushing so lightly he barely even felt it.
In fact, he didn't even know anything was different until he actually got to Jimin's and was emptying his bag of the ramen, chips and soda he had gotten for them to share. It wasn't even him who noticed, Jimin's gasp catching his attention as he pointed at the finally finished mark on his wrist.
Followed by a ridiculous amount of jumping up and down and congratulating him. It was only then that he finally realized that the constant dull buzz of the feedback loop that played withing his mind was also gone, leaving behind clear nothingness where there was definitely meant to be something.
All of these years later he still remembered all of it, despite how much he had tried to let go of the memories. They just kept coming back to haunt him. Like a ghost he couldn't get rid of. Only it had no face, because he didn't even know what the guy looked like.
All he knew was it smelled like crisp autumn leaves mixed with vanilla and it's name was Seokjin.
