Chapter 9

Jack's hand slammed on to his staff. A wave of ice blast towards the wall. He huffed and panted.

Elsa huff, "Again."

"Elsa..." Jack groaned. They been at this for hours. Trying to become Nightlight is beginning to tail a tole on Jack. He's been going to sleep at 1am and waking up 5 hours later. He rubbed his nape, sighing, "Elsa, I need a break."

"No, we have to keep on going. I'll find a way. I got this. This is what I meant to do."

Jack watched as Elsa walked back and forth mumbling. He chuckled at the sight. But when he took a better look at her, he sighed, "When was the last time you slept, ace?" She stopped her muttering and played with her ring. Jack frowned, "Elsa, answer my question."

"Yeah, but then you would get mad and I don't want you to worry."

Jack grabbed her shoulder and looked up at her eyes, "You're worrying me just by playing with your ring." Elsa widen her eyes, making Jack laugh, "When you're nervous, you start to play with you ring. Just a little something I picked up when you first came here. Now I promise I won't get mad. When was the last time you slept?"

"When was the last time we go out of the Pole?"

Jack sighed, "You haven't slept for 4 days." Elsa hesitantly nodded. Jack put his hands on his face, "Okay, well you are going to bed right now."

"What! No, I'm just fine, Jack." Jack grabbed Elsa and carried her to her room, "Hey, let go of me! Jackson!"

Jack shook his head, "Nope, you need some sleep. I'll brainstorm some ideas while you sleep, Blondie." He place her on her bed and tucked her in, "Good night, ace."

Elsa frowned and laid on her side. Jack pulled up a chair. Elsa scoffed, "Aren't you going to leave?"

"You think I don't know your tricks. I'm the Guardian of Fun and Mischief, ace. I'll stay here until you fall asleep." Elsa rolled her eyes and yawned. She sighed. Her eyes fell and she lightly snored. Jack chuckled and called for Bruni and Baby Tooth. Once they heard his call, the two walked up to Jack.

"You two mind watching her? She need her sleep. If she wakes up, call me." Baby Tooth and Bruni saluted Jack, making him chuckle. He walked out of the room and closed the door. Suddenly, Jack heard chuckling and giggling.

"Aw, Jack is taking Elsa to bed! Eeek, it's like Hallmark movie, but in real life!"

Jack rolled his eyes, "Elsa and I are just friends, Tooth. Nothing special."

North shook his head, "No, no Jack. You act totally different around Elsa. You're more caring and open with her. Of course you've always been caring to all of us, but open? Not really."

I don't like Elsa. Besides, she's all hard work and deadlines. Jack chuckled and shook his head, "I don't like Elsa, okay. Now if you excuse me I'll be in the library." The Guardians blinked twice, looking at each other, "What?"

"You, mate, are going to be in the library? I thought Tooth was crazy, but you do really like her."

"I promised her that I'll go research about getting my new powers, while she sleeps. She needs it." Jack quickly flew off. Pfft..... the Guardians really think that I'm in love with Elsa. Jack walked around the library, finding books about Nightlight. He picked up a green book, under the name 'Nightlight: The Moon's Guardian.'

Jack sighed and read the first page, "Nightlight is an enigmatic, immortal boy that was once the Man in the Moon's bodyguard until he helped seal Pitch away the first time. Since his and Pitch's reawakening, he's mostly enjoyed wandering the earth in addition to bringing his own abilities to the fight. He becomes Katherine's closest friend." Katherine? Who's Katherine?
