Starting to break free for once

I guess I was starting to trust these humans who took Sonic in.  Both were now showing concern after me and Sonic explained our past experiences, I ended up falling asleep after sometime it was getting dark outside already sure I would've rather stay awake since my team was out in the garage but look out duty wasn't an option for tany of us tonight.  I could finally let go of my insecurities and rest I forgot all about Tails though he probably went to the garage where Rouge and Omega were.  I knew we'd probably have to leave  early in the morning. Sonic ended up falling asleep as well, Tom and Maddie left the room after a while, I awoke once in the night and they weren't there.  Falling back asleep was easy though but my dreams went back to the ark to that  last moment with Maria, I remember the soldier who took her out, his face...  then I awoke to someone shaking me, it was Sonic, he had a joyful gleam in his eyes.  " Morning Shadow!! Wow I just had an actual sleep over!! I guess I should mark that off my bucket list!" He jumped up excitedly, I only gave him a small grunt but then I grew curious when he ran to get a piece of paper.
" What's a bucket list?" I never heard that before no one talked about it before.
" Oh it's a list of stuff you want to do before you kick the bucket or have to leave to travel far.. just something to do while you're here at least do some actual living."
He replied as he drew a line across  "have an actual sleepover" he then showed me his list.
The list was long but it already had lines across the stuff he's done.
Make a real friend was crossed out, start a bar fight, meet another hedgehog like me, and a couple other things were marked off.

" huh you actually have a pretty good list there...  I guess I should make a bucket list too since  I haven't exactly lived my life not the way I would of liked to, I was supposed to come here with Maria  and Gerald once Maria's  illness was actually gone, it was a promise.. now I guess I'm alone now. Rouge and Omega are friends of mine sure but I'm just trying to get them to safety before GUN actually take me again. I just want Rouge and Omega to be in the clear but now you're probably on their target list as well."

Sonic listened though his mind almost seemed elsewhere at some of the time, after I was done talking, he grabbed a piece of paper this one was larger that the paper he written his own list on he also gave me a pencil and a book.
" So I guess until then you'd like to do some living before they put you in isolation... wait what was isolation like?"
He sat back on the bed beside me after handing me the supplies.
" Isolation... oh i spent years in a deep sleep unable to wake... I don't exactly know what exactly happened while asleep."

I put the paper over the book to use it like a table it was a smooth surface so it worked.
He watched me as I wrote my list.

Learn how to use  a gun ( again)
Avenge Maria
Compete in some kind of sport
Relax in a field of flowers
See snow  and a sunset for the first time
Star gaze with someone
Experience an eclipse
Steal a motorcycle from GUN  and go on a joy ride
Visit a beach
Go to a theme park
Walk away from an explosion kinda like how it's done on TV

I was soon done writing the list on things I wanted to do I didn't mind Sonic reading it as I wrote much.
" Oooh seeing snow for the first time is a good one, I usually slept through the winter time back when I stayed in a cave but now that it's always warm maybe we can do that one together.  I didn't even put that on my list. Oh and maybe we both could do a sport together actually we can also do the star gazing a long with watching the sunset sometime that is if you'd like to."

I smiled a bit I wouldn't mind company at least, completing the list was gonna be a bit hard since most the list was of what Maria would've liked to do.  She really wanted to experience going to the beach  also going to a theme park, we'd often see pictures of those in books and also online, we often sneaked into the computer room when the scientists were busy in the lab, mostly looked up things to do on Earth such as sports, vacation spots, all sorts of stuff.  She also wanted to make friends, I already have three right now.

" Heh I think I got a perfect nickname for you Shadow now that we're friends... I gave Maddie and Tom one already, Tom is nicknamed Donut lord and Maddie is Pretzel Lady..."

I then looked back at Sonic.
" Huh... why you call them that?" I was nervous those names were food items and I wasn't too sure on nicknames and this was kinda random.

" Tom will sometimes talk to donuts when he's bored on Sherif duty, he also eats them if they step out of line. Then Maddie she does this thing called Yoga on her days off, it's almost as though she was born without bones.  I've tried doing yoga it hurts..."
I now grew more curious.
" ok makes sense... what was the name you were going to give me?"
I silently hoped it wasn't food based.
" I was thinking Edge lord since some of the stuff you put on your list sounded kinda edgy I mean wanting to use weapons, avenge your friend, walk away from an explosion, and also steal a vehicle from GUN. You're already wanting to take risks with them by making them even more mad, now that's living life to the extreme!"

I just gave him a nod I was down for being called Edge lord it sounded cool and badass!
" Alright Shadow the Edge lord it is!  Heh well you only live once I guess and if their gonna try and put me back in isolation might as well do some crazy stuff before then.... actually I kinda had a nickname back home well a few there was Project Shadow, and The ultimate life form."

Sonic didn't say anything but he seemed glad that I liked the nickname he gave me, I was probably the first one to like the nickname he gave, Tom probably wasn't a fan of Donut lord when he first heard it and Maddie probably didn't like Pretzel lady at first either.  Edge lord though seemed to suite me even if he was basing the name off stuff on my bucket list. 

" You know you kinda remind me of my favorite character in a movie called Speed, well the main character in it, I love this one line he says in the movie.... Pop quiz Hot shot!"

I never saw the movie Speed before, mostly me and Maria watched Disney movies  back on the ark.
" oh I wouldn't know since I wasn't exactly introduced to that movie... I've seen a few action movies though but their older also mostly watched Disney as well. "

Sonic just nodded. " guess we'll have to watch Speed together sometime then."
He smiled then stretched a bit, I then remembered I had to leave remembering that GUN could be coming back for me, I had to get Rouge and Omega to safety before then.
