Narrator
The Malfoy only continues crying and sobbing while Hermione lays her head down on his shoulder while his face buries more into her hair what makes her mouth corners a bit raise, because she knows that this is his way to show appreciation for her actions.
This day is definitely hard and not really beautiful but in the end she knows that this day makes their relationship - if someone can call that, what they 'have' in the moment, like that - kind of grow.
And for that she is thankful. Because she really wants to help him and she knows for that every step, no matter how little, is really important.
─ ─ ─
»Draco you need to eat something.« she says again and meanwhile her voice is louder than before. But that doesn't impress him. He still answers »No I don't!« Right away she breathes out loud and her hand go through her face, obviously frustrated.
Since the funeral of Snape, the blonde is only in his room and only comes out when he needs to go to toilet. And damn, she hates it. She was so happy about the fact that they were more or less close before that sad day and now everything is gone again.
And that is so frustrating.
He doesn't even want to eat something. She doesn't know how long she is standing in front of his door but meanwhile her mood is getting down and damn, that's not good. Definitely not.
»Draco, I swear to Godric Gryffindor that when you don't stop this, I come into your room right away and I will force you to eat something!« she almost hisses and slightly gets angry. She really doesn't want to be mad or something similar but it gets on her nerves. He is so damn stubborn.
To her own surprise the brunette doesn't get an answer. And a few moments later he opens the door and comes out. His hair is not combed, his eyes are red and his facial expression is more than just tired. He looks similar to the moment when she got him out of askaban.
»Fine, you won.« he says but doesn't look into her eyes and just goes to the kitchen where the table and the chairs stands. Without any more words he sits down and stares at the plat in front of him. Hermione obviously follows him and sighs. »Draco, I don't want something bad for you, you just need to eat.«
Her voice sounds quite guilt-ridden, what makes him sigh and finally looking at her. »I know, Granger. I know. I just...actually just want to be alone, that's all. You're right, not eating isn't healthy but...I miss him. And all the memories I had with Severus came back and-« She interrupts him. »Look, Draco, I know this is pretty hard for you and I am sorry for Snape's death, I really am. But I am also here for you. Before the funeral was, you seemed to trust me and also at the funeral it seemed like you accepted my help, why don't you do it now?«
The brunette puts the lunch on the stuff for breakfast on the table before she sits down and looks at him. »Why don't you do it now?« she repeats herself. But he only looks away and shrugs. »These are my problems, not yours. Sure, I accept your help but...you shouldn't worry about me more than it is necessary. And...we aren't friends or something.«
She sighs and nods. Yeah, they aren't friends. That's the point. »I need to accept that you don't want to talk with me, this is completely your decision which I need to accept and that's what I'm trying to do, I promise. But you need to promise me that you eat and drink at least, alright? This here is about your health and when it's about that, I don't make any compromises.«
The blonde looks a bit surprised at her but nods as a sign that he understood. »I promise.« Hermione only smiles weakly before she takes a bun and starts eating what he does too. And again there is this weird silence between them.
Hermione looks at him again. It doesn't matter how often she tells herself she needs to stop it, she just can't prevent it. »I will be fine, Granger. It's just that nobody can really help me here...I need to manage this on my own. I appreciate everything you do for me, I really do, but...please don't worry too much about me, alright? I will be fine. And I promise I will stop my behavior. Severus always said that life goes on and now I need to understand that he was right...«
»I don't know him very well, he was always quite mean to us anyone of Gryffindor but Harry told me what...he saw in his memories during the war...« she looks at him but he only looks at his plat, so she slightly takes his hand and squeezes it a bit. »Snape was a good man, Draco. And so are you. He deserved better and I am very impressed by the strength he had. He did everything he did because he loved and after all this, I can say he was truly good. And as I already said, so are you. Life goes on, yes, and you have people who support you in everything you are doing, I am sure about that. Your mum is there, your friends are there and...- yes you said it by yourself, we aren't friends but - I am also here for you. Whenever you need any supporter, anyone who should be there for you, I am here. Okay?«
The blonde looks at their hands, then at her and smiles slightly and nods. »Okay. I am really thankful for your words, I really am.« She smiles too, happy about the fact he accepts her try to help again.
But before anyone can say anything else, it suddenly knocks at the door...
