Chapter 3

Second Person POV

Finally, it was done. 

The project that took the two of you 5 months to complete was finally ready to test. Placing the polyethylene caps into the machine you inserted a flask to catch the clear liquid that would come out.

During the 5 months you and Senku had been working on this project you had grown accustomed to Senku's shit-eating smirks. You adored those smirks, it was the hottest face you had ever seen him make.

As the two of you observed the machine, you had noticed that the flask was finally full. Yes! the two of you thought, it worked!

The two of you were about to congratulate each other when an abrupt noise echoed through the science laboratory. "This is it, Senku! My mind is made up! After five long years, I'm telling her how I feel!"

"Wow, fascinating, I can't leave the lab right now, but I promise to cheer you on so vociferously my vocal cords will snap," Senku responded sarcastically.

Much to his dismay Taiju actually thought he was telling the truth. "Awesome, you mean it!? You rock, Senku!"

Plugging one of his ears with his pinky, Senku rolled his eyes. "No, you big oaf, I won't project my voice even one millimetre for your cause," he said as you giggled.

"What?! Come on, man!" 

"Look, if you felt this way for over 5 years but never said anything I couldn't praise such illogical behaviour, but I can give you something logical as hell."

Taking the gasoline from my hand Senku examined the liquid. "I've developed this drug as a kind of love potion, it maxes out your pheromone levels, granting you a 10 billion percent chance on winning her heart." 

Taiju took the glass from Senku's hand before dumping it into a sink. "Thanks but no thanks, Senku, I've got to do this my way," he said before turning around and walking towards the door with a look of determination. 

"Are you serious, you made a love potion?"

"Come on, use your brains it's gasoline." He rolled his eyes. 

"We simply refined it from plastic bottle caps, consider the molecular structure of polyethylene. It's just like a long gasoline molecule minus a few hydrocarbons. You can tell just by looking," you stated, swirling the liquid around in its flask.

"I can't." "Me neither."

"Yeah but, if Taiju would have drunk that, wouldn't it have killed him?"

"The odds of him drinking that are 10 billion to one. He's dumb but too straight-laced."

Deciding it would have been rude to just stay in the lab and not watch your friend confess his feelings to the girl of his dreams, you dragged Senku outdoors, telling him it would be best to mentally cheer for his friend. 

"Yuzuriha, I'm sorry I'm late."

"It's fine, so what's going on Taiju? You wanted to talk to me." Yuzuriha turned around with her hands behind her back.

As a group of boys from the balcony stared down at the two, they snickered. 

"100 yen on heartbreak."

"300 on her making him cry."

"500 on her calling him a creep."

Opening up an energy drink Senku made his own bet. "I bet 10, 000 shes into him too." 

"Seriously?!" They all yelled dumbfounded.

Glaring at the boys you looked down at the two of your friends.

"It's like this, Yuzuriha. I've kept this inside me for 5 years-" Taiju began, but before Taiju could finish his sentence he noticed a green light behind Yuzuriha. This drew the attention of both you and Senku.

"Senku, what is that?"

"I-I don't know. Get behind me." 

Truth be told, ever since the first day he had set his eyes on you he had developed a slight crush on you. If by any chance this light thing was dangerous, he didn't want you to get hurt by it. Engulfing you in his arms he held you tightly. 

As your eyes widened you looked up at your friend whose eyes were tightly closed. Pushing yourself off of him, you quickly pushed your friend behind you, closing your eyes from the bright light that manifested before you.
