When Brenna returned Aidan's call, he had wanted to know if she was bringing a date to Sage's graduation party. She was receiving her doctorate in history.

Sage was the trifecta — intelligent, wealthy, beautiful. She also found Aidan amusing which meant she was a rare find. Brenna hoped Aidan didn't blow it.

"Date?" She laughed. "You don't want to know about the guy Ashley set me up with. Then there was the one Molly trapped me into meeting, because she has the hots for his friend. He wasn't horrible, but I wasn't in the mood after the obvious set up."

"Have you tried online dating?"

"That's dangerous. I'd rather be single and alive."

"Live a little, Bren. You are the most cautious person I know."

"So this party, will it be a big bash?"

"Just family and close friends."

"Count me as one. You're the lucky one."

"And I know it. See ya on Saturday."

"Bye Aidan."

Brenna had only been to the Petersen estate once before. Her parents were very gracious, especially her mother Bea. They loved her brother which was a good thing. She arrived to hear the news her brother had popped the question. He was getting married.

She and Mia went for a walk on the paths in Bea's garden. The flowers were blooming, and it smelled of wet dirt.

"Are we going to get lost?"

Mia laughed. "It's a garden. Come on!"

Brenna followed her until Mia abruptly stopped at an open space with a working fountain.

"I think you need to make a wish." Mia held out a coin.

"Do you have a change purse?"

"No, Bea keeps them in a bowl by the patio doors. She encourages her guests to make wishes."

"Where's your coin?"

Mia had only brought one coin. "I made my wish, but I'm still waiting for it to come true."

"How long do you have to wait?"

Mia laughed. "Magic wishes don't have a timeline."

Brenna shook her head. Only Mia would believe. Brenna suspected she still believed in Santa. Mia's excitement rubbed off, and she decided to tempt fate.

Holding the quarter in her hand, she shut her eyes. Before she could concentrate Brown came to her mind. She was certain she could love him. Throwing the coin, she wished for Noah Gentry to fall in love with her.

The coin made an odd sound and Mia gasped. "Oh no! I think you really hit a fish!"

Looking into the pool there were huge goldfish swimming. One was on the bottom.

"It's not floating that's good, right?"

Mia smiled. How come the sensitive sister was smiling over a dead fish?

Brenna watched as it miraculously flinched its tail and swam. "Oh, thank God! I would hate to jinx my wish."

"I heard a rumor it will make you luckier."

Brenna looked at Mia who had tears in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I was just thinking about Aidan proposing here. It must have been so romantic."

Brenna put her arm around her sister. "You're still young. Who knows, if this job Bea's friend was talking to you about works out you'll meet lots of new people."
