She's not my seatmate anymore. Not even my classmate. I was transferred to a special class while she and my gang (Lukas and Marco) were in class B.
In our class, fortunately, we have the freedom to choose where to sit so I decided to be in front and away from any forms of distractions— well, aside from this stupid door where I can see people passing by every time I would glance at the side.
I was preparing for a test when I suddenly felt light-headed. I rested on my desk, facing the door of the room. Coincidently, Aelia passed by and stopped as she saw me.
"Hi, Tree!" I see. A year after, she's still as lively as the bird. The heck— what am I thinking. "Okay ka lang ba?"
"Urgh. Medyo...sumasakit lang yung ulo ko."
"Ha?" She touched my forehead with the back of her hand. "May lagnat ka yata, Tree. Tara. Sasamahan kita sa clinic."
"I can't. May test pa ako."
"Tree—"
"Aelia. Please...let me take the test then I'll go home and rest. Okay? Hayaan mo na ako."
She looked at me with her worried eyes. Idiot, don't show me that face, will you?
"Fine." She said and went back to her room. After 4 years, it's the 1st time she sounded mad at me. Hay. I guess I'll just leave her alone for now.
Right after the test, my teacher allowed me to go home and rest. At the gate of the school, Aelia was standing, looking as if she's waiting for someone. I wanted to annoy her but I don't have the energy so I ignored her instead.
Yet she grabbed my arm. "Ba't ang tagal mong lumabas? Kanina pa kaya ako naghihintay dito."
"Ha? Wala yata akong naaalalang ganitong usapan?"
She smiled again. "Hehe. Wala ba? Di bale na. Samahan nalang kita."
I stopped and gave her a stern look. "Wala kang pasok?"
"Meron." At nagawa pa niyang ngumiti? Pambihira.
"So, hindi ka aatend ng klase dahil ano? May sakit ang kaibigan mo? Such a valid reason ah."
"Hindi lang naman kita kaibigan ah."
"Ha?" Anong sinasabi nito?!
"Best friends kaya tayo, di ba?"
"Best---friends? Ha. Kailan pa?"
She's surprised. "So all this time ako lang pala itong nag-iisip na magbestfriends tayo?"
Hay. Mas lalong sumasakit ang ulo ko sa babaeng to. "Best friends, close friends, o kahit na ano pa ang relasyon nating dalawa, I won't allow you to skip classes just because I'm sick. Okay?"
"Pero Tree---"
Urgh. Why can't she understand what I mean?! Idiot!
